I say GS4 needs a roa'tating series of slogans.
"Raise your dead here", the Gemstone Cleric
"Beat the world into submission with your fists, or what ever else you can pick up", the Gemstone Warrior.
"If you don't know where you are, but you're not lost, then you must be looking for something", the Gemstone Ranger.
"Earn honor and respect by destroying/dismembering monsters and rogues with your mind", the Gemstone Sorcerer.
"You can't pick your friends nose, but you can heal it", the Gemstone Empath
"One part weapons and armor, Two parts honor and glory", the Gemstone Palidin
"See the past, present and future of time through song", the Gemstone Bard
"Steal everything from everyone except sorcerers (because they will blow your arms off and beat you with them)", the Gemstone Rogue

Gemstone IV: Your trash doesn't need to go out, that's ogre blood.
Gemstone IV: Cheaper than the bar
Gemstone IV: Earn lots of money... Fake money!
Gemstone IV: A colorful world in black and white
Gemstone IV: You can't curse, but you can kill things.
Gemstone IV: It's not 6 bucks an hour anymore.
the previous suggestion still stands.

I know most of you guys are just messing around with slogans, but if you're seriously trying to think one up, remember that it should be comprehensible to non-GSers (i.e. not based on an IG joke) and that it shouldn't have negative connotations.

First: "roa'tating" - insert groaning sound.
Second: This is a great idea, although I'm not crazy about the post's specific slogans. The revolving slogan idea reminds me of the succesful promotions run by ING Direct, where they have a series of different, clever tag lines. What makes people say "Oh, that's ING," much the way you want them to say, "Oh, that's Gemstone," is that all the taglines are visually linked (in our bank example, by uniformly white text on an orange field).
This isn't just a way to dodge choosing a slogan--I once "refreshed" a page with an ING ad just to how many one-liners they had ("So you want to be a zillionaire?" was my fave.) Their product didn't excite me at all and I didn't switch banks, but that's hardly the fault of their promotion.
Anyway, I vote for rotating several, similiar slogans around the themes of fantasy and community. A visual trademark could tie them together nicely, and give you multiple shots at getting someone to do a double-take at your ad. My two cents.

Agreed. Take the best 30-40 slogans and have a flash banner that reads, GS4 - "Blah is Blah!!" And keep switching out the Blah with alternate slogans every few seconds.

Though the idea itself isn't a bad one, think about which popular companies come to mind and for what reason. The staff of Gemstone mentioned that they want product recognition.
Geico: Where 15 minutes can save you 15% on your car insurance.
Cingular: Raising the Bar
Citizen's Bank, not your typical bank.
I find that these slogans remind me of the product and even if i do not decide to use them, I am well aware that they are one of my choices.
Along with the fact that today's newer gamers are drawn to pretty colors and high-end graphics, there is still a market for those who's minds and imaginations have not been smushed by them. How many times have you seen "WTS: insert item here" on the amunet lately? Pretty easy to tell who came from World of Warcraft to play Gemstone.
I think the slogan should be cheeky and amusing enough to interest people new to MUD's but i think the user base you are looking to catch is the one that is sick of these new high-end games all being the same.
What matters to me, personally, is customization. Custom, custom and more customization. For example, i think City of Heroes is a horrible game after a few days of playing, but i can sit for hours and make characters and have loads of fun.
I love Gemstone for the customization as well as the community, and the slogan should, in my opinion, emphasize just that.

Such a person exists? Not counting WoW players who used to play text games, I've never been able to interest anyone in playing a text game rather than the current eye-candy. That includes my own children.

I don't know about coming TO Gemstone from WoW... but I know of two or three who have come BACK to Gemstone from WoW (myself included).
WoW is the nice eye-candy and a whole lot easier to play...
And has more group-play aspects...
And is a whole lot CHEAPER to play (if you're willing to play with junky graphics anyways)...
And there's enough of the player base to avoid all the morons who want to treat the game like their own personal epeen-waving contest...
And the tradeskill system is FAR less redundant than GS...
And leveling/questing is a lot more fun...
WoW is a great game for the "video gamer" culture because it plays just like, fancy that, a video game...
But when again... I grew up on Gemstone (started playing when I was 11 years old)
I never "role played" in Warcraft... even on an RP server.
I never felt "in character"
I never felt bad for being out of character...
I never had to create a story, or a demeanor, or a behavior pattern...
I never had to deal with a pickpocket when getting my boxes picked...
Or track down an empath after getting beat up...
Or make friends to "hang out with at the [insert place here]" or go to the [insert faire here]"
Nor did I ever get to create really cool character combos (like like thrown/pole/brawl butt-kicking spear chucker... Or my crazy brawling gnome wizard (MINJA VOLNJITSU!)... or the forest gnome ranger obsessed with wombats)
In the end... Gemstone is more FUN to play for me... and thus I came back.
That and I can cook dinner, chat online, write crappy poetry and play gemstone ALL AT THE SAME TIME
With WoW, I could only do one or two.
Gemstone IV: The REAL way to role-play!

I think you guys have hit on something there.
"This is no video game."
Is that zingy enough? Does it bring out that cultural difference and the text/graphics difference while sort of subtly marginalizing the latter? Man, now I'm worried about shanking HJ before it has a chance.
