Updates to Sacrifice have now gone live. New in this update, Sorcerers will no longer need to be taught the Sacrifice ability, it will be inherently known. Sorcerers will also find that the cooldown time between Sacrifices has been greatly reduced, and can be further reduced by training in Necromancy lore.

At 10 ranks of Necromancy Lore, the Sorcerer will no longer suffer spirit loss on a failed sacrifice. At 30 ranks of Necromancy Lore, there will be no spirit loss on a successful sacrifice.

Two new options have been added to Sacrifice. SACRIFICE CHANNEL and SACRIFICE INFEST.

SACRIFICE CHANNEL, learned at 60 Necromancy Lore ranks, allows a Sorcerer to direct the energy of a sacrifice into their Animate, healing it of injuries and refreshing its animation to 20 minutes.

SACRIFICE INFEST, learned at 100 Necromancy Lore ranks, allows a Sorcerer to taint the energy of a sacrifice, weakening the next few spawns of the same type of creature for a short amount of time.

WOAH.

Just....WOAH.

Just to clarify on SAC CHANNEL- if you use it while an animate has, say, an hour of duration....does that mean it'll reset the duration to 20 minutes? Or it'll add 20 minutes to the duration? Or neither?

It'll reset the duration to 20 minutes.

Thank you for the clarification!

This really is amazing and so extraordinarily creative. The one problem I foresee here is that folks who do AG bounties usually end up resting longer than 20 minutes between hunts. So if you're AG'ing, your animate is still going to be limited to a single hunt in most cases.

Don't let this one concern overshadow how insanely cool this release it, btw.

I'm going to miss teaching sacrifice on occasion, honestly. It was a nice little RP opportunity. (whether they liked it or not!)

But the rest, awesome. I think I'll use sacrifice channel quite a bit. It'll be a little tricky since it resets duration rather than adding to it but I bet I'll make it work.

Would you be open to making it fail outright if I use sacrifice channel when my animate has more than 20 minutes duration left? Rather than actually reducing the duration.

Yes but is anyone really going to seek it out when all guides/wiki will correctly say it is an inherent ability?

Then be pro active and set up a player driven rp event around teaching it to young ones. Reach out to them instead of waiting for them to come to you. You may be surprised how many may be interested.

I applaud the inherent knowledge of sacrifice. I wish the binding rune was inherent knowledge for wizards.
