402 duration suggestion on 03/25/2015 07:15 PM CDT

I know there have been instances where people have advocated for 402 to have a longer duration. The multicast system with mana control skills almost nailed it but sort of misssed the mark by leaving out 402. I've yet to hear someone disagree with that assessment. I know there are a few other spells that fall into this category.

Okay, the principle is that it's not a defensive spell and doesn't warrant a multi-cast. Maybe this is partially a categorical decision which allows dev to cross-reference all spells against a list of multicast approved spells. I don't know. However, the current behavior of many players is to stack it, anyway. Even if it takes a couple minutes of casting JUST 402 to stack it to their comfortable level.

What about making it such that CHANNEL 402 infuses mana into the spell, making the cast duration 1200 sec + 60 sec per MnE rank (the same as the elemental defenses)? I don't have a concrete suggestion on the mana cost. Half of your level, maybe. I don't know.

I'd like to advocate for this sort of change in the name of simply making aspects of GS less annoying (not easier, just less annoying).

I even thought the spell duration on 402, 403 and 404 were specifically out of date, since they still depend on the character's level (which was a GSIII feature of most spells). I heard that these ones were somehow decided not to follow the new logic but...I don't get it.

I don't want to be a party pooper but I think something should be done with these spells. Either make them easier to stack (e.g. the suggestion of multi-incant here) or just flat out get rid of the option to stack them. It's just one of these things I look at and ask, "Why?"

There are some other weird spells with short duration that stack (Rapid Fire stacks, right?), but these are certainly the exception and not the rule. We should rub out these silly exceptions in my opinion, one way or another. (Or...make them easier to stack.)
