You know HSN 2015 stands for Hot Sorcerer Nights 2015, right?

>But, while there are 2 posters here who proclaim themselves water mages, I suspect that few other of the many mages in Elanthia train in this. Some may train in both air and water lores to get a better DF from major shock, but I suspect they are in the minority. I an going to take an in-game poll of wizards and ask how many have water lore, and whether they have any plans to do so in view of the changes so far.
And why would they have? I mean seriously, water lore has traditionally sucked, been pointless. It does practically nothing for a wizard, whereas fire lore, boy howdy! Did you see what fire lore can do with spells like Immolation? Major Fire? I've known quite a few wizards who do 200 ranks in Fire lore and get nothing else. This situation, a lack a diversity in training choices with one obviously beneficial choice, was obviously intentional, and not a problem at all that needed to be fixed. It should definitely not be a goal that there be roughly equivalent incentive to train in each lore, thus forcing the playerbase to make choices and ultimately diversify the profession. Nope, that'd be crazy. Instead everything should just be fire lore.

Not that it's relevant to much of anything but since you are taking a poll.
Elemental Lore - Air...............| 126 33
Elemental Lore - Earth.............| 102 24
Elemental Lore - Fire..............| 102 24
Elemental Lore - Water.............| 102 24
Other elements included for when you decide to start polling on those.
I really don't see the releases so far as something to entice wizards into training in water lore at all. I think they are purposely keeping them grouped in one lore (water) so that rogues (specifically) have one lore that they can focus on to improve their locksmithing via lores if they so choose. Having each of the locksmith/lockpicking oriented spells tied to a different 'more logical' lore would make less sense in this instance to me.
Just my two silvers worth.

>>everything should just be fire lore. <<
Interestingly enough, I have no fire lore whatsoever. However, the releases so far do not make me want to run out an pick up a bunch of water lore. It's possible that updates in the other circles will have all sorts of watery goodness; an increase in the power of 903, increasing the DF of 904 with water lore, maybe a water version of stone fist ... a globe of water surrounds the target's head and drowns it? I can only comment on what has been revealed so far.
>>Based on your tone, arguments, and subject matter. I would disagree with the above statement. In fact, it seems the entirely of the point of your posts lately.<<
To me, there is a significant difference between being critical of GM effort (which I am not doing), and criticizing the results (which I am). GMs put in a lot of effort, often for little remuneration, which I appreciate. This does not, unfortunately, always produce results which I find equally valuable.
These forums provide a venue for people to express their opinions, provided they do so in a responsible and non-inflammatory manner. I am expressing mine; obviously others are equally free to disagree with me.

As I've started many times, with a few exceptions, no individual spell usually justifies training in a single lore by itself. You're training in specific lores for the combined benefit across all of its affected spells. As such, there is almost no point in evaluating if Presence (402) justifies training in Elemental Lore, Air or if the lockpicking and disarming spells (403, 404, 407, 408, and one more unreleased) justifies training in Elemental Lore, Water. Any such assessments should be made after the entire Elemental Lore Review is complete, when you can review all the impacted spells for each lore. If at such a time a particular lore is underwhelming, then we would definitely welcome such feedback.

That's a reasonable enough request. I shall attempt to refrain from further comment until that then.
The Bells of Hell
go ding-a-ling-a-ling
for you and not for me.

I'd been trying to (or did) say that, but it's always more emphatic from an NIR

I don't think you need to refrain from commenting in general. Just keep in mind an individual change might not be up your alley, but it doesn't necessarily make it terrible. Specific points about what you like or don't like about a given release (constructive criticism) is always useful. I think the part that went a bit off in the deep end was something about how you are making a pact to never train any character in water lore, which I read as pretty harsh (and a little like playground talk).
