Any way we can get very specific messaging based on the ASG please when cast?

As you cast Ironskin your skin takes on a supple leathery quality covering you from head to toe.

As you cast Ironskin your skin takes on a hard leather quality covering your chest only.

As you cast Ironskin your skin takes on a rigid leather quality covering your arms and chest only.

As you cast Ironskin your skin takes on a hard metal quality covering your chest only.

What, you don't believe in the chain Armor Group?

(Good idea, though.)

The spell already has this depending on lores and level.

I think either you're answering something Jim didn't ask, or not properly interpreting what he's saying, or else confirming that there's bad spell design.

#3) For my part, if when I cast I get <some given type of armor> based on my training, but I need to be even higher (in levels or Lore ranks) to be able to identify what it is that I'm casting, then that's poor spell design.

#2) If you're saying that more Lore ranks (and Monk levels) will yield higher armor sub-groups, he knows that; he just wants to know--to be informed, at the time of casting--precisely what it is that he's getting.

And if you're answering something else, then I haven't a clue what it is. :)

I'm pretty sure your skin already covers you head to toe, all the time. :P

In all seriousness, it's not difficult to calculate what your ASG will be when you cast the spell. And it's only going to change at best, every 5 levels or lore ranks, which is a good amount of time in real life (think about how long it takes you to level 5 times), so you're not having to recalculate the numbers often either. The messaging does change based upon the Armor Group and that should be sufficent if you don't want to worry about the numbers.

All the time? I have my doubts about whether you have a complete skin covering after setting off the gas in the bowels. The only places I didn't have minors after the last time someone did that to me, were the places they had stacked to majors. ;)

I was being serious.

When you first cast it your skin takes on a leathery quality.

When you've gotten some more transformation ranks and levels it takes on a scaly quality.

Etc, etc.

The spell definitely lets you know when it improves.

He was asking for messaging to indicate the body parts covered, not the class of armor.

Armor is silly not Ironskin. Ironskin messaging only looks odd because you are trying to match it against a silly system.

AsG 17 in normal armor gives plate DF and chain crit divisor on extremities when only the torso is armored but as Estild pointed out, AsG 17 Ironskin changes the skin at every location not just the torso. Functionally AsG 17 Ironskin does the same job as wearing MBP, but it does it in a different way, and the messaging reflects that.
