Ok so I played like 100 years ago, im back now and I am struggling hard. Made a monk, and im loving the system, but i have a few questions as far as CMan goes, and training. Any input would be great help, thank you in advance.
so right now i am training
2x brawling
1x two weapon combat
2x cman
2x phys fitness
3x dodge
alternate climb/swim
1x percep
im currently lvl 4 i have 2 spells in minor, and 1x training in harness power, not really sure how to deal with magic, and i was suggested to train some transformation.
If you can tell me what im doing wrong, or what im missing i would greatly appreciate it. I love this community, every one is so helpful, i just cant find many monks in game, and i hate to grab people and be completely OOC. Thank you in advance.
P.S.
What should I be training for Cman, it seems any thing that is passive will be really useful as far as improving punch, kick and grapple. also, im thinking of doing a stance, not sure which one is best.

Available Combat Maneuver Training Points: 8
I just started a monk and that is what I've done with him so far. Other people have loaded up with spells first instead of combat maneuvers and MoC. I've done something a little different from my usual set up with this character and have just been playing him with stats set for growth from the start. I haven't come across any real issues hunting yet but if I do end up running into them it won't be until 30+ at the earliest. Once he is a full 1x in MoC I plan to start training ambush up to 1x and keeping it that way until I am satisfied with his aiming ability. After that I will work on getting more spells with any free points.
I am not sure on the exact approach I will take with maneuvers either, I think I may switch my focus from evade mastery to pick up combat mobility once I can get both ranks, then work on krynch stance which seems to be the favorite among choices for monks. I've heard good things about it and if it isn't to my liking it is easy enough to unlearn the ranks and pick up something else. Only reason I want to get combat mobility so early is just to make those tasks searching for heirlooms a bit less dangerous. I know eventually I'll want combat focus and perfect self. I will probably also pick up the last two ranks of punch mastery. I have one of each mastery right now because it is cheap and improves my odds on landing a hit when I get an opening to tier up. I may also drop those later but for right now I find them quite useful.

Thank you, this info is very useful. Follow up question, why moc at all? from what im reading it seems the only benefit this would have is for defense as mstrike is based off0 attack and not the uac system.
Question about ambush, this directly effects aimed striking such as kick right leg, grapply head, all that? If that's so would we benefit more from points in ambush over moc?
Question 3, im leaning towards joining the new society, what are your thoughts on gos for a monk?
Thank you!

Thats pretty much standard training.
You need rather more levels before you can do anything interesting with CMans. Most Cmans you need to be level 11 before your can get train enough ranks to get a decent result from them. At level 11 I suggest having 2 ranks krynch, and if you haven't seen anything else you like the look of, just add punch etc. masteries according to which attacks you use more.
There isn't much gained by having 1x rather than 0.5x in TWC. You won't need 1x harness unless you are heavily training spells too.
I'd recommend thinking about leaving CMan at 1x and putting the points in spells until you have 1220.

MOC is almost entirely about defense. You probably will want some eventually, because FoF does get painful if you don't.
If you don't have enough ambush to aim effectively, then ambush is going to be more useful than MOC. Once you have enough ambush, it isn't. At level 4, neither are going to do you much good. You'll be in the region of level 15-25 before aiming effectively (level 15 with a lot of ambush, level 25 if relying mostly on CMan training).
GoS hated enemies are monk candy, and lone Grims are easy too, but I'd expect warcamp tasks to be pretty suicidal.

(at level 29), your current skill bonuses and ranks (including all modifiers) are:
Skill Name | Current Current
| Bonus Ranks
Two Weapon Combat..................| 5 1
Combat Maneuvers...................| 160 60
Brawling...........................| 160 60

Combat Mobility mobility 1
Combat Toughness toughness 1
Evade Mastery emastery 1
Internal Power ipower 4
Slippery Mind slipperymind 2
Inner Harmony iharmony 1
Available Combat Maneuver Training Points: 9
This is me at level 29. I use slipperymind as my stance versus pra'eda and spectral shades (sorc casters) and the Iharmony was great for nymphs, spider temple, and soon the arachnids mixed in with Shan. Goals from 30-40 will be to get TWC up to .5x and perception up to 1x. After that...a few additional ranks of HP simply so I can use 1207 or 1219 periodically. Maybe 10-15 ranks of ambush as well when I have spare points. Getting 1220 was my first priority though and I'm only now catching up on my dodge.
