Hello Paladins!

Faith's Clarity (1603) has been updated such that it is now subject to the same amount of armor hindrance that would be present if the spell was currently active on the caster. Enjoy!

Before this update, if you cast a paladin spell in full plate you normally have 13% hindrance. If you cast 1603 before casting a paladin spell, then it will reduce that hindrance to 3% for all spells that come after the 1603 cast, but not the 1603 cast itself.

So, previously, 1603 was subject to the 13% hindrance. Now it will only be subject to 3% hindrance.** Which is the hindrance followup spells would enjoy.

Excellent change!

Mechanically, you are enjoying the <benefit of this spell> at the moment that you are <casting this spell>.

I believe this was a player suggestion at around the time the Paladin list was released (maybe even, previewed), so it's good to see that it finally came to pass. :)

Any chance of extending that to things like, I don't know, Elemental Saturation/413 and Song of Depression/1015?
(i.e. "I want to give you a TD penalty! ...BUT, I need to beat your [un-penalized] TD in the first place, to do it.")

(And I know I have suggested both of these spells get <their own benefit> for <their own casts> in the past, too.)

Let me explain why the initial post was hard to understand, to help the OP.

In the initial post, you referred to the same thing three different ways (once as 1603, once as "it", and once as "the spell".

If you had referred to 1603 the same way every time it would have read as follows, which I think would have been a lot better:

1603 has been updated such that the cast of 1603 is now subject to the same amount of armor hindrance that would be present if the 1603 was currently active on the caster at the time of the cast of 1603. Enjoy!

Great update!

What I really wish we could do is set the duration to a hybrid of X number of spells along with X number of times.

FC has two primary uses- to help us spell up with the 100s and then to use the occasional utility or offensive 100's spell in a pinch. It'd be great if we could set it up to still last 30 seconds, but then, once 30 seconds was up, allow it to work on between 1-3 additional spells over the next 5 minutes based on lores.

I'd imagine something like:

At 25 ranks of blessing lore, the caster can retain the benefit for 1 additional 100's spell for up to 5 minutes after duration end. (a bit of a spin on the 117 lore boost concept)
At 50 ranks of blessing lore, the caster can retain the benefit for 2 additional 100's spells for up to 5 minutes
At 100 ranks of blessing lore, the caster can retain the benefit for 3 additional 100's spells for up to 5 minutes

Truthfully, the big pain point unique to Paladins is that we face major armor hindrance casting defensive spells that we're expected to have up when we go hunt. (Overall Paladin DS/TD calculations assume that 101, 103, 107, and 120 are up at all times while hunting). In a way, casting 1603 is a very strange hurdle we have to go through just to get our basic defensive spells outside of a sanctuary.

Then, the other unique pain point is that the few utility/offensive spells in the 100s that we might actually use during a hunt (108, 109, 117, 118, 119, 125) require us to cast 1603 first. For most of us, that just means we virtually never use those spells.

But if 1603 still had its full "anything goes" 30 seconds AND then could apply to 1-3 subsequent 100's casts, we could get a little bit more out of our 100s list.

pre-update, if you had 13% hinderance for paladin spells, casting 1603 would reduce hinderance by 10% after the cast, but 1603 itself was subject to a 13% fail rate. Now, when you cast 1603, it will have 10% less hinderance when cast than other paladin spells(assuming you have the lores for 10% hinderance reduction).
