Any chance of making the force on force benefit a persistent buff like the monk group buffs, having it last longer, or moving the benefit to the paladin spell Guard the Meek?

It would be nice to have a separate Avenue to achieve force on force benefits without having to train MoC on top of everything else a paladin has to train in. I think the vast majority of paladins 3x armor till 50 to rush into full plate and make 1635 a priority as well for beseech and these two goals really tie up tps.

Making the entire spell effect a bit more persistent would be wonderful. As it stands now, it also does not do a very good job of tanking attacks for my hunting partners. I use it when they get in trouble, but virtually every hunting ground I frequent has enemies that still kill them. 1608's CS attack cannot hit faded ithzir, bandit spawns are staggered so they often do not exist in the room when I cast it, crawlers enter in with an attack and almost everything has a mass attack maneuver or spell that they always seem to pick at that time.

With the current functionality, I am just as well off casting 1630 (except for the chance to kill random people walking past). There is so much potential built into 1608 but the implementation misses the mark. In every MmoRPG I play, my favorite class is the tank. But without engagement positioning or something like LOTRO's threat system, there is no real way to fulfill that role. 1608 in concept would do it, but in practice it doesn't.

Ya, I haven't had much opportunity to use the tanking aspect of the spell but I've heard there are issues with its use.

If it is decided to make the spell more persistent (even a 5 min duration would be great), I wonder if it's possible to make the spell a buff that requires any attacks aimed at a group member under the effects of the spell to automatically resolve against the paladin first.

Paladin casts 1608 for himself and a wizard who he is grouped with.
Creature walks in and attacks the wizard with a melee attack (Ranged and Bolt attacks would also count).
Wizard is under the effect of 1608 which causes the creature's melee attack to instead resolve against the paladin.
Warding spells and maneuvers are excluded.

Maybe make creatures who walk into the room have to ward while the spell is active?

I'm also going to second this one. Im finding some of the revamps to the Paladin circle really can't be put into everyday use like they should be. 1608 is another good example of a spell slot being underused because of some of its flaws in the fact that we could tank the room, but in an invasion situation where the room is constantly cleared this presents no real use unless the Paladin just sits in defensive and constantly casts it, which on its face is boring as sin.

So I haven't played a paladin in quite a while, but it's quite rare for creatures to swing at children already. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a 1% chance or lower.

Protecting travelers from bandits is more difficult. Even then, though, bandits' first attacks are against the player, so I'm not sure where I'd find the spare seconds to cast something that's not inherently damaging or disabling. Maybe paladins have the luxury of time to spare, if their skills in CM make bandits easier to manage.

Do paladins feel the need to cast all 4 of those spells before attacking? I would think one of those would be enough depending on the group of critters.

I tend to just cast 1614 right now while the critter is in Def Stance. If I don't want them performing an action, I'll use 1615 afterwards to make em kneel and force RT. I still don't use pious trial because I can generally kill, stun, or knockdown a target in the same time frame, but I might if I were in a warcamp or reim.

It is definitely higher than 1%.
