After chasing one across the rift for 30 minutes I finally find it and...
You leap from hiding to attack!
You swing a vicious black axe at a grizzled rift crawler!
AS: +661 vs DS: +564 with AvD: +35 + d100 roll: +10 = +142
... and hit for 17 points of damage!
The guiding force leaves you.
You swing a vultite handaxe at a grizzled rift crawler!
AS: +541 vs DS: +564 with AvD: +32 + d100 roll: +37 = +46
A clean miss.
Roundtime: 7 sec.

An unearthly moaning echoes around you, dispelling any sense of peace and security from the area.
R>
In a pitch that might shatter glass, a sound emits from the crawler's open maw, and the air distorts and rips like a seam stretched too tight. The creature squirms its way toward the opening and disappears within the whirling anomaly. In one soundless motion, the rip reseals, changing the pressure of the surrounding air.

The blue crystal certainly works with feras. I think its more whether the ambush weighting would have creamed the crawler with a roll a bit higher than 10.
Assuming its a handaxe then against AsG 18 (only AsG with AvD of 35 for handaxe). DF = 0.21.
Raw damage 42*0.21 = not quite enough to activate crit weighting against plate
Assuming that is a 10x handaxe against plate (and it looks pretty close to that enchant) it would be about the same roll to activate crit weighting as it would to get feras to flare. 10x enchant almost makes up the difference but not quite. I am not sure what versions of edged turn up as feras, anything other than a handaxe is going to have a worse AvD.
My guess is that a roll of 25 or so rather than 10 would have creamed the crawler due to the ambush crit weighting while it would have needed a roll of about 15 to land with a feras handaxe, but I don't know enough about the crawler and the handaxe in that clip to be sure.

It looked like he wasn't getting any kind of DS pushdown from ambushing, so either that particular grizzled crawler was to high of a level all together or he needs more ambush training. I could be wrong but it seems to me if you don't get the pushdown you aren't getting the crit adder either because both are an element of that surprise factor.

The weapon is 7x perfect. I am max trained in ambush, so can't do any better without enhancives. That particular crawler had an offensive DS of 503, which I found out earlier when I tried ambushing without a blue crystal and madness. That shot I decided not to mess around and used both, but just happened to get an unlucky roll combined with being unlucky in not getting the full DS pushdown. Was just annoying because it took me so long to find it and then I botched the ambush. It was the toughest grizzled crawler I've seen, so I'm guessing level 107 or 108 which is why I wouldn't get the full DS pushdown every time. It must have been at least 106 since on one of my ambushes I was unable to strike with my second weapon and I'm a full 2x in TWC also.
Eventually with the help of Kerl we did enough damage to it and it bled to death somewhere on another plane so yes they can bleed to death.

I've seen grizzled 5 levels over what is possible for a standard critter, which would make 113 possible for a grizzled crawler. I don't have a good way of checking the level of a critter anywhere near that high though, so the rules for grizzlies could be different.
