Has anyone killed one of these? I'm going to try now on the off chance I may be the first person to kill one, but I figure Droit or Kerl probably beat me to it.

Ok never mind that really was not hard at all. Pretty sure any warrior could do this easily.

[The Rift, Scatter]
Thick, perfectly clear glass forms the ceiling, walls, and floor of this small room. Beyond the transparent enclosure is a sea of water that has been completely frozen. A school of colorful fish has been immobilized in the midst of fleeing from an equally still scaly predator. Even bubbles of air that had risen from the murky depths have been captured in the ice. You also see a grizzled Vvrael destroyer and a metallic black pearl.

Destroyers are warrior bait. They're definitely the easiest creatures in the scatter for warriors. They also have ultra low perception, so I imagine rogues do well against them too.

That being said, I've already killed dozens and dozens of the grizzled variety, so I'm afraid that 'first' is long past. ;)

I never have much problems with cerebralites or siphons either myself. Fetish masters can be a pain and liches too.

The only thing with the destroyers is that the maneuvers can get you, particularly in combination with a couple of the others. If for example you are using a shield, watch out for sunder shield. Obviously, you aren't using a shield, but those who do should watch for that carefully. The mstrikes can be brutal too if you're already in trouble, especially the claid variety. The liches are the one thing in there that is still difficult for me to solo on. In the right circumstances I can do it fairly well, but they have a nasty arsenal of skills with which to do you in if you don't get them first.

You are right, I don't use a shield, and for those that do, sunder shield is the only real danger they pose. The rest of their maneuvers are annoying but harmless until you lose that blocking DS. I forget is there a message that lets you know when the affects of sunder shield have worn off or not? And I imagine if you had x2 dodge or more you could just sling your shield for a time and manage without for a bit.

I haven't even bothered trying to kill a lich. Are they even corporeal? Fetish masters are by far the hardest of the rest of them for me because they usually have a 500-530 DS even in offensive and bound. Siphons and destroyers are both very easy for me, although dangerous in a crowd.

Lichs are corporeal, but with a base level of 110 it isn't exactly easy to use combat maneuvers on them. They also go around with temporal reversion up and have quick action times, can also haste themselves if they aren't fast enough already either. Pures with a good CS have no trouble against them what so ever though.

Yeah, the temporal reversion sucks. The liches also like to use major ewave. If they get that off on you, it's usually curtains due to level differential.

Any idea what their DS would be in offensive? I assume they would be relatively squishy, although I probably wouldn't get the full pushdown a lot of the times and given how dangerous they are I probably wouldn't even try them until I mastered vanish and tripled hiding.

Kerl I assume you use the string to kill them?

A 3x Spells / 2x Fire Lore Immo build has to 530 them first.

It's pretty heinous.

Yes, I just fire away. Their DS is fairly high, though I can't quote you any numbers, particularly on the offensive side of things. Hurling makes this a little bit less of an issue due to parry DS bypass. The trouble though is the temporal reversion. You get in a good shot and it gets blocked by the reversion fairly often. Even with a 3 second RT this may be enough to give them a chance to take a shot at you, and it isn't uncommon that they get the effect twice in a row, in which case they will certainly cast something.

All that said, they are fun to hunt as a group. If you get several people attacking, you can usually take them down pretty easily. Just watch out for swarms and you'll do OK with a team in there. Plus, if they do get a major ewave off on you, and you're all lying there dead, at least you'll have someont to chat with.
