I really like these poles, they seem a good combination of speed and power. The only thing that I don't like is the name. Can we not have the only acceptable name for a weapon base tied to a particular Arkati? With the advent of Paladins, arkati specific messaging on cleric spells, and a possible friend/foe system (I don't know the status on this last one), the name seems too restrictive. How about adding a few alternate names for these weapons, like the bec de corbin or lucerne hammer.
The hammer of Kai is actually named after the lucern hammer. The lucern hammer gets its name from the Swiss city of Lucerne, whose armories were well-stocked with the weapon, so much so that scholars named them after the city. So, due to that city not existing in Elanthia, I am sure the creator decided to give the pronoun to an Arkati, instead of a city.

The bec de corbin is more halberdish than hammerish. Only reason I didn't use that as a reference. But it does have a large blunt side you could do crush damage with.

Your explanation of the derivation of the name "hammer of kai" makes sense. However, it seems to me that according to the wikipedia description, at least, that the bec de corbin is actually more similar to the hammer of kai than the lucerne hammer.
The hammer of kai is puncture only and is described as "essentially long poles equipped with a war hammer at one end...the size ratio of the hammer to the pole usually demands that the spiked portion of the hammer be used to inflict any real damage."
Compared to "unlike the Lucerne hammer, the bec de corbin was used primarily with the 'beak' or fluke to attack instead of the hammer head."
Anyway, I think that the bec de corbin is similar enough for GS purposes that it should be an alternate name for the hammer of kai. I just dislike kai's brand-name monopoly on the weapon base; think that it's unnecessary and probably relatively easy to fix.
