So far, in my never ending quest to expose Republican hypocrisy, dishonesty, ignorance and backward narrowmindedness, I have resisted the temptation to harvest the low hanging fruit offered by Michelle Bachmann's candidacy. But now Cher has spoken out, so I must too.
Cher says that Bachmann's husband sets off her gaydar!
Bachmann's husband is a "therapist." Like his wife, he is outspoken is his intense opposition to gays and lesbians. Gays, he says, are "barbarians" who need to be "educated."
As much as I would like for Obama to win reelection, I can't help but secretly harbor a small dark desire that Bachmann and her weirdo husband will be elected the President and First Dude. Bachmann's election would ensure that there will not be a single boring day for the next four years. The entertainment value would be staggering.

God help the USA if this election comes down to what washed-up-contribute-nothing "entertainers" think.

<<Cher's "gaydar" couldn't even pick up her own daughter. I wouldn't put too much stock in it detecting someone elses husband.>>
<< Chaz Bono isn't gay. >>
1) Even by the PC standards of today, she was gay until she had the operation, so Cher's "gaydar" is as faulty as California and Japan.
2) I refuse to follow the PC standards and consider "sex" changed individuals as a new sex. An operation doesn't change chromosomes. I have no problem with them getting the operation and being happy feeling like the opposite sex, but I will never look at Chaz Bono and see a guy.

Gender identity, sexual orientation and chromosomes are separate things.
Aside from that, I don't recall Cher ever proclaiming her daughter's straightness. Got any sort of evidence of faulty gaydar along those lines? If you're going to discredit her claim because you think she's been wrong in the past, you should be able to provide some examples of that...

Cher had to be told by her daughter in 1987 at age 18 that her daughter was gay. Her "gaydar" missed it entirely.

Not that this really has anything to do with anything, but people are often blind to their own children's issues. Here's an article that discusses Cher's daughter's coming out:
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/PainManagement/story?id=4104867&page=1
>For a long time, Cher overlooked her daughter's emerging sexuality, according to Bono's 1998 memoir, "Family Outing." "Instead," writes Bono, "she focused on superficial issues that bothered her: my short hair, my mannish clothes, my weight."
On the other hand,
>Eventually Cher turned to PFLAG and accepted her daughter. PFLAG offers practical advice to gay children [in regards to coming out to their parents].
Perhaps that has given her more perspective.
But really. Who cares. If we're going to talk about Bachmann, I'm far more interested in what she herself has to say.
For instance...
>"If you’re involved in the gay and lesbian lifestyle, it's bondage. It is personal bondage, personal despair, and personal enslavement." (EdWatch National Education Conference)
