In a fascinating series of articles on Slate, Farhad Manjoo argues that, unlike earlier technological advaces, the thinking power of machines will (is?) this time permanently displace many workers without generating additional jobs.
The most interesting article, IMO, is the last one about scientists. Humans, the article suggests, are approaching the limit of human intellectual ability, but machines will eventually be able to surpass our ability to understand.
