No rapture last week!

Should people who sold their houses and spent their savings in anticipation of the rapture be able to sue the man who wrongly predicted it?

I say no. Even if he falsely predicted the rapture on purpose to scam people, which does not seem to be the case, he should still, IMHO, be exempt from suit.

While I'm sure there's no evidence that he did it to scam people, I think if he did, he'd probably fall afoul of fraud laws. Rightly so, in my opinion.

But if he had no intention of defrauding people, then there's nothing he could be held liable for. Being an idiot, is sadly not a civil offense.
