If you had bad news to announce, yesterday was the very best day to make the announcement, with the Anthony Weiner story taking all the airtime.
The White House chose yesterday to announce that Austan Goolsbee is leaving to return to his university teaching job. I'll miss his whiteboard videos. He was good at explaining complicated issues in a simple way.
Rick Santorum, OTOH, chose yesterday to announce his presidential candidacy. Terrible timing.
I like Austan Goolsbee. Obama named him chair of the Council of Economic Advisers last month. He's one of those people who is nerdy and comes across as sincere and innocent.
He appeared on Sunday morning talk shows This Week[1] and Fox News Sunday[2] a few days after his appointment, where he was impressive.

The Heritage Foundation produced a video attempting to rebut Goolsbee's video. According to the Heritage Foundation, "Goolsbee commits enough errors to fill a 30-minute speech."
I find Goolsbee's video more convincing than the rebuttal. Surprised?
