I was doing some sweep reps in Stone Valley, and noted this ...

>>The stone troll is stunned!
Roundtime: 4 sec.
R>stance defen
> hide
A stone troll's flesh wounds regenerate slowly.
A stone troll's left leg regenerates and looks much better.

A stone troll flails her arms about angrily, shaking off the stun!
A stone troll lurches to her feet!
>
Roundtime: 3 sec.
You attempt to blend with the surroundings, and feel confident that no one has noticed your doing so.
HR>sweep
You come out of hiding.
[Roll result: 147 (open d100: 75) Penalties: 10]
You crouch, sweep a leg at a stone troll and connect!
A stone troll falls to the ground! You deftly regain your footing.

[You have 1 repetition(s) remaining.]
Roundtime: 5 sec.<<

OK, what are the penalties due to? I am same level as the troll (55), have absolutely no wounds or even any scars, and am unencumbered. I have 100 in all physical stats (Str, Con, Dex and Agi), and in fact have strength spell in effect. 34 ranks in sweep. Question: what is the -10 modifier from on the attempt die roll? Is it because I am not yet mastered in this skill?

is more deadly than the male".

Just a guess, but the fact that you are trying to kick something made of stone is a likely factor. I know when folks kick boulders in real life, they tend to get the worst of the exchange.

Of course, that may have nothing to do with the GS mechanics at play, but I'd suggest checking against a similar level critter made of something slightly softer.

Probably relative size. The bigger it is the worse the penalty. If you were a small race that would be -20
