So when conversions do finally open up...what Level/Class character do you all plan on converting to a monk (if at all)?

Nice..
I'm going to be converting a 100 paladin. (Was a warrior until recently).
Honestly, for like 8 years, I've done TWC brawling weapons as my combat style..and had armor hiding robes for as long as I can remember. He's always been a swift "strike and dodge" type character...so I'm really looking forward to being able to switch over to a class that promotes these functions and fits more with his roleplay.

I played one to level 10 or so...
Honestly, it's not even about functionality of the class as much as it just "fits" my guy. Even if I absolutely despised Unarmed Combat (which I don't), I could always TWC brawling weapons/katars, and be the same exact functionality my warrior was...except i'll have 3x dodge and robes, instead of full plate.

Like at first being a warrior "fit" then converting to paladin "fit"?

Heh, the dwarf has a paladin conversion open ... maybe I should try it. :)
Yeah I've leveled up a couple of monks from 10-15. I really want to convert that character since he's been around awhile and has some attuned items I'd like to use on an active character. Otherwise I'd just have kept leveling one of the others.

Nah, honestly I converted to paladin a couple of months ago out of boredom....he's been a warrior for over a decade.
Nothing really "fit" because i picture him as sort of a fast-moving whirlwind blur...so I was a TWC brawling, mstriking warrior who wore robes..
The paladin thing was just to see what the hype was about, since I haven't really played much at all in anticipation for monk conversions.
Thanks for the concern with my roleplay though.

Just asking questions. You seem overly concerned with conversion mechanics for your "roleplay". I hope when you do convert you find your "fit" for your char.

So what's your point in posting in this thread Chad? You seem passive aggressive as if its offended you somehow. |
Just being a nosy jerk. Sometimes my curiosity gets the better of me.
I totally understand the "roleplay" concept. There are a few players who have successfully fleshed out characters who do not appear like your standard every day warrior, or wizard, or cleric or whatever. That is a cool thing about this text medium.
Making GS a classless system built only on skills would be the ultimate way to completely customize your character.
Just the fact that conversions are allowed at all is pretty cool. Being able to convert a capped character to the peak of the newest class in the game is awesome. I'm surprised it is allowed at all.

I'll be converting my level 40 half-krolvin rogue. It's a purely mechanical choice. I've had him since HKs first were released, got him to 40 in a relatively short period of time but he's been collecting dust for 3-5 years now. I would like to change that. I currently have a level 13 monk and he's fine. It's just slow gaining levels when you focus on one or two characters out of 15 in your stable. The jump start is a welcome idea and I hope a friend or two of mine convert characters in the same level range. In a way, it might well mean the death of my level 13 monk...but that remains to be seen.

I "converted" my level 25 rogue when monks came out and rerolled him to monk. He was a robe wearing sword master type with a katana. Monk just seemed like a better overall fit for his build. The only major loss was giving up being a master in GoS. I couldn't do it again, he's in CoL now. I briefly considered converting my capped ranger because I really want shroud of deception but I can't give up my animal companion.

I'll be converting my level 23 Voln paladin... she used to be a lance-user, and I used to barely ever play her... since the UAC system came out though, she's been having a blast punching, kicking, grappling, etc. her way through like-level foes.
I did roll up a monk, in an extra character slot I had at the time. Got her to level six before my Premie sub ran out, but in that time, I had a complete blast with her, so I figured my Voln paladin would be a good choice to convert.
