Emissary poisoning on 07/20/2012 03:14 PM CDT
I was around Friday night to see the emissary poisoned and to try and get some clues about the motive and actors, but I could not come back the next night when it was to be sorted out.
Who really poisoned the merchant Juramis?
What was the motive?
Is Harith really dead?
Ok that last one isn't a real question. We know she still lives.

Lord Juramis (the merchant) actually avoided being poisoned, and Emissary Johlias was poisoned instead because he demanded to taste the chowder (some of you might remember him from Ebon Gate last year). Chef Yhekrahq was eventually apprehended for the crime after overwhelming evidence was found against him, and also for several counts of assault on visitors to Mist Harbor. He was placed in the stocks until transport could be arranged for him to face trial in Selanthia.
Things did not turn out quite as planned, however, and Yhekrahq was killed by a deathwort poisoned crossbow bolt from the shadows. The death of the fugitive was shrugged off by local law enforcement, and the Imperial Emissaries were relieved that the burden of transporting the criminal to Selanthia was no longer on their shoulders. His body turned black from the poison, and decayed rapidly.
Following the events, a local known as Dolgin was approached by a group of adventurers and is suspected of using the deathwort. The local law has made it clear that they have no intention of arresting Dolgin without solid proof. He currently remains in good standing with local authorities, regardless of his prior escapades.

A kobold points at you and yells, "Mine! Chasin!"
A kobold swings a short sword at itself!
Blow glances off the kobold's shoulder.
The kobold blushes furiously!

It's all fun and games until someone gets killed with deathwort.
But seriously, Maetriks may not be the most law-abiding citizen (-cough-) but she does fight for justice in places she considers home (Mist Harbor and River's Rest) so she will do what is needed to ensure her home is safe and Dolgin (as cool as he is) is brought to justice.
Her motivations may also stem from wanting a belly gem.
