Well, it's not often a merchant hangs out after hours. But darn, Goblyn was a hoot. I wound up staying up way later than I wanted to. Thanks to whoever is the string puller behind Goblyn and irar's player for forcing me in to the IC mediating session with Archales(storyline related)

Half an hour turned into three.

And many lulz were had.
That's why I play.

Goblyn showing up at otherwise "normal" events, such as the Trine, and putting a bit of her spin on them has been some of the funniest events for me. During or after her merchanting work, Goblyn tries to draw people into RP and really goes the distance. As a GM, she has shown mastery of the underlying item systems with her scripts and on the spot prop manipulation/creation that gives unique events that little bit extra that take them from fun and unique to memorable.
Simutronics is really lucky to have such a great staff right now.

It just goes to show you - GMs don't need to create grand and epic storylines in order to pull people into fun RP opportunities. Although I do appreciate the epic stories, it's nice to mix it up with a little lighthearted simple fun. Goblyn has become one of my favorite NPCs.

Agree with all the sentiments posted above.

I tell you, I haven't been thrilled with some of the changes that were made to the game here over the past couple of years. But at least we've got progress being made. Wasn't always the case And we've got a good crew here. Got to give credit to everyone who stuck with the game through what I called the Wilderness Years.

In comparison to our friends at.....Echo Alpha....as it were....
Who keep putting out broken titles year after year at $59.99.

This.

This is why I came back to GS and play here, instead of DR after ... 20 years in DR.

Take a bow, EVERYONE behind the scenes.

Luxie, more power to you, and no offense to anyone, but that game was impossible for me to wrap my brain around when i played it on AOL, i rolled up a free to play account and played for a bit over there, and the same sense of helplessness enveloped me. Probably because i was expecting something like GS4, but i got something totally different!

I even read the guide to new players. DIDN'T HELP. :P

Did you have a hard time adjusting from DR to GS4?

Ohmygosh, in so many ways, coming back to GS was very difficult. I not only had to forget all the habits learned from 20 years of DR, but I had to adapt to a place that SEEMED familiar, but where nothing was the same. Everything I knew about GS was from ICE age times. And all of this without any friends, extra chars to help, etc.

After the first few weeks, I was bound and determined the game was not going to beat me my first month. By the end of the second month, I had made friends who were answering my ludicrous-sounding questions (what do you mean, I just attack? Which commands do I use to attack and in what order?) and people were RPing with me, around everywhere.

And there, the latter, the RP ... kept me here. That was gone from DR on any kind of wide scale.

I think GS is a tough learning curve, but throw in "been here before with everything different a long time ago" and "played a skill based game with similar, but different commands". and it becomes doubly so.

And I haven't even touched on the floods of tear-laden memories that overwhelmed me a number of times. The streets of the Landing broke my heart. I had to reroll and start in another city. They still ... can catch me unawares as I turn a corner and find the ghost of Mikhail, Belladonna, Benar and others waiting for me on the name of a street.

I knew about the harp in Twilight Hall - but it didn't prepare me for coming face to face with it. I had no idea I would find Natasha in the museum, or a street would be named for her. Bawling ensued all three times.

Anyway, all these things made GS more precious and touching. The new Elanthia is pretty amazing and has clearly been treasured by both the staff and the players in those 20 years I was gone.

Are you sorry you asked? :)

Irar was behind bugging you ceaselessly to mediate, but Goblyn showing up was a complete surprise. I was just sitting at the table after trying to get you two to settle things and she showed up with Crux. No idea why, but had a blast nonetheless! Good times.

Thanks, guys ;) I very, very much appreciate all of you who have been so marvelous about rolling with Goblyn's antics and spending time just randomly hanging out; the characters around her continue to shape her lil' bit by lil' bit and make her who she is. I'm also continually impressed with the level of creativity that everyone puts into the various RP scenarios she's either stumbled into or been invited to that are largely player-driven (this past Saturday's shenanigans in the lab, for example; the table debate; everything pies!; etc.) -- it makes it super fun and far more challenging to NPC when 90% of the time, I have no idea what's going to happen next!

>>Like blood bubbles
That actually wasn't Goblyn! Fortuitous timing? I have no idea! (But I certainly fancy the idea of obtaining those bubbles for her.)

Hah... that was actually Crux (likely to no one's surprise), but I'm delighted to see that Goblyn has now included them in her repertoire, along with countless other fun toys. Her tendency toward creatively implementing suggestions is one of my very favorite things about that character; certainly not the only thing, mind you, but one of many.
