You tap a heavy black vellum page illuminated with lines of winter white enamel in a faded green leather pack.

You see nothing unusual.
There appears to be something written on it.

In the Common language, it reads:

Between the echoes of the doubting days,
I pause again, and look within my heart.
Our paths divide beyond a seaman's chart,
But still we echo through each other's ways,
Complete the chant and solve the secret maze,
Divide our lives and loves, beloved, no more--
I wait for you beyond the Ebon door.

I found it interesting to say the least, and here I thought it was going to be a fancy scroll.

Also like to add, my lockers get stuffed with odd things I find like this. Nice not to always find something of a mechanical advantage.

Thanks to the nameless poet.

Sounds like a clue to a puzzle of some sort. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

I thought the same thing at first, but as there is no loresong it's just the way it's written I think that gives that impression.

I'm just guessing it's a mysterious little poem left laying about so we could find something neat above the norm treasure.

It's interesting in that it seems to refer to different areas.
- "Solve the secret maze" looks like on the path to the graveyard (or up on the glacier), while
- "beyond the Ebon door" is a pretty clear clue to the Spider Temple.
- I could argue that "complete the chant" could be the portal to the lower Crypt in the GY, or even through into the Shadow Pasture area, but
- "beyond a seaman's chart" makes me think "off the map", which would be up on the moon somewhere through the Misty Chamber.

.

.

Mind you, it could just be a GM getting the poetic license on. :)

>- "Solve the secret maze" looks like on the path to the graveyard<

Woods to the Graveyard

>"beyond the Ebon door"<

The Graveyard gate itself?

>"complete the chant"<

I'm going with my original post/thought. It's just something different a GM made for someone to find.

I like it, and the other odd things they do like, the Zul propaganda for example. Those items amuse me for some odd reason and I'm glad not everything we find has to be mechanically based.

Don't get me wrong I love finding weapons and armor.

Probably my favorite item was a granite ring that had a short engraving (READ) on it. I lost it to a decay unfortunately.

"the Zul propaganda for example" -- Senglent

I think it'd be hysterical for the Borthuum mining company (or any of the others) to do Berma-Shave fliers that wind up in treasure boxes. :)
