So did the bug stopping feras and drake random weapons get fixed, or is a GM being very prolific with basic gear making?

GM Finros posted awhile ago, that feras being omitted from the treasure system was an oversight. And it was fixed. So that may be a randomly created piece (I'm not 100% sure). Feras can come in many flavors now, including enhancive flavoring.

Feras weapons have been going out for a few months now, after the problem was brought to my attention last time. Drake weapons, as I indicated before, were always in the system. It is possible for both materials to generate with an enchantment. Neither metal is as common in the new system as they were in the old -- the old generator spit them out like candy, but the new system has a great deal more variety. Accordingly, drake and feras come up less often, but potentially much more interesting.
Re: Time to ask again, Feras and Drake. on 09/29/2011 07:46 AM CDT
I remember when the new system was being released, either Emeradan or a no-longer-GM was posting about all the sweet stuff that could wind up on a randomly generated weapon.
Yet no-one was ever finding any of them. Particularly if they were on an item that looked just like all the other (let's be honest) low-grade crap that the system was spitting out: a fel-hafted invar thingummy (or maybe it'd be feras, which by definition has only a limited duration). So they wound up in the pawnshop, virtually guaranteed.
Nearly everyone was asking to a) turn down the frequency (potentially by quite a lot) and b) turn up the 'niceness' factor, so at least they'd be upper-end low-grade crap. Something that someone finished with their very first day's XXX, where they're about 5th-6th level or so, might actually USE for the next 3-5 levels. (You know, through the end of the week.)
Any chance of that being the case, now that the frequency has in fact been set lower?

The overall system frequency hasn't been modified. I was commenting only on the relative frequency of feras and drake. I think the "niceness" factor is about where it should be. Some neat stuff is generated, but I'm constantly surprised at how much of it is left behind for the janitor. The same is true for feeder items -- people don't pick up chests and really nice stuff is lost to the janitor (though it often gets re-fed when that happens).

The majority of items I see left behind are the actual weapons that are in the creatures' hands. Just last month alone I've seen a number of 5x weapons left behind (usually made from materials like mithril, drakar, gornar, etc), and even enchanted claidhmores (imflass and enchancive ones).

The random feras and drake weapons look like the other random weapons "a vultite-edged drake falchion" or some such, not just "a drake falchion". So you can tell them apart fairly easily.

Oooh, I'd love to hear some details if you can. It makes me break out in big silly smiles to hear about cool "everyday" type items like that.
That's the kind of little thing that keeps me searching and coming back!

Has that adjustment been done to Platinum as well for the feras and drake weapons?
Before the treasure system change I would find lots of enchanted drake and feras, but since not a single one. I will say everything I found was in Prime before I joined Plat, but the amount of things I do find in Plat I'd think I would have found something along these lines by now. (and my rate of finds has more to do with me uphunting 10-30 levels almost every time I go hunting)
Yes I'm the nut with no regard to my characters safety in the ever present quest to find neat loot with droppage if I die.
Senglent and his wayward kin.

It is generally safe to assume that anything from dev is applied to all instances, unless specifically noted otherwise.
>Before the treasure system change I would find lots of enchanted drake and feras, but since not a single one.
The old system spit out drake and feras like candy. The new system has so many more options than before, it's inevitable that less drake and feras will be produced on an absolute scale.
