With the release of several items in our SimuCoin shop, we want you, the players, to have a chance to earn some of those rewards in game. We are introducing drops of our Enhancive Pauses, Urchin Guide Tokens, and Locker Runner Contracts. How can you find these new items? Simple! Just hunt like you normally would for a chance at one of these rewards. Premium subscribers have a daily boost to their chances at finding their first drop each day, but do not fret, if you have a basic account, you will also have the ability to find this loot, should you be lucky enough!

i'm not sure when this system went truly live, but I have found an enhancive pause. Premium account, but cool to find.

I also like that it isn't a "real" item in game. That way, there's no way to miss it, and I won't have to worry about it getting lost in my inventory.

for the items with multiple options (e.g. 60 uses or 30 days), which one do you get?

I got a message saying I was awarded 1 use. Frankly... I'd rather have that than accumulate single days.

Forgive me for being dense, but do you mean one use as in one use of the verb?

Oh and while we're sticking coin store stuff in the treasure system, here are the things I would really like:

-enhancive charging pots
-death sting salve (the good ones!)
-encumberance charms
-adventure guild vouchers
-locker slots!

Thanks Coase! I think we're all happy to see something everyone seems to like from your hard work.

Sure, putting in a couple more things would be nice. I believe Wyrom said something about making anything in the SimuCoins store available in the game, though I'm not sure if he really meant everything. Locker slots, for example, might be nice, but this might be a bit extreme. Also, there are already in-game ways to increase the size of your locker (join a CHE).

However, guild vouchers (Adv and Professional) would be welcome by me. I understand professional guild vouchers are only relevant among a subset of professions, so I could kind of see this being kept only in the store. It's also one of the items I personally don't have a problem purchasing, so won't generate more complaining from me if it isn't released to the hopper system.

I am getting some lulz imagining Society Resets going in the Treasure System; obviously this isn't needed since I believe there are already several in-game mechanisms to do it (the default one per character, and one in the bounty system). Mostly, it just seemed funny to imagine certain kinds of creatures dropping them. Like you're in Voln, slaying the undead, and the creature has a society reset on it. Or if you're in an unnamed society, hunting near the Monastery. Has an amusing connotation from the dead creature telling you to do something else with your life...

Is there some way to see what we have accumulated simucoin store loot wise from this treasure update? While still new what happens when we have a few we haven't used long enough ago to have forgotten about having them.

If not, I had two ideas - add it to the SIMUCOIN BALANCE list or perhaps create a TREASURE verb that can track what is there?

This is a great update and really puts to rests at least some of my personal concerns about the Simucoin store. That said I just had a couple questions that I beg you not to take as complaints:

1. Why were these not made physical items we could trade with one another?
2. Will the selection of coin items available this way be expanded at some point to include other things people have mentioned?
3. Might some other Simucoin items become available through other systems, alchemy for instance?

Again this is a great addition, I'm just curious about the above.

Be nice to Wyrom or I will cut you!

[You have been awarded an Urchin Guide pass! You will have access to the URCHIN guides until Sat Jan 24 11:10:20 ET 2015.]

If I read this correctly, my capped sorcerer with 15 years in the game just won 2 hours of, "This is the way to the gemshop."

Just makin' sure I read that correctly...

Never having used one before, I want to at least compliment the designers in making it 'instant travel'. It brought me (and my group, not sure if bug), while in town, to the gemshop instantly.

Actually, your capped sorcerer with 15 years in the game just won 2 hours of intimidating(or having impressed) the local street urchins into showing you their quick and back alley methods of getting from one place to another. I haven't used the system myself but heard it isn't like DIRECTIONS, but is a more direct method of travel.

GOKU USED INSTANT TRANSMISSION, it was super effective!

>urchin guide alchemy
You flag down a nearby urchin and indicate your desired destination.
The urchin nods to you and rapidly guides you and your group through a series of back alleys, side streets, and little-used shortcuts until you reach your destination in mere seconds.
[Thistleberry's Hut, Consignment - 13062]
Unrecognizable aromas hang in the air, although fainter than in the front of the shop. A scuffed manifest lies attached to a short counter by a tarnished metal ring. Cupboards line the back wall, their doors marred by dents and random scorch marks.

It seems the shadow mares don't think much of these
...
You search the shadow mare.
She had nothing of interest.

[You have been awarded an Urchin Guide pass!

...

and then I was about to bug it because it looked like it expired before I got it.

I'd suggest changing the announcement to make the period explicit. e.g. "You have access to the Urchin Guide system for the next two hours, until xx.yy E.S.T."

...

>1. Why were these not made physical items we could trade with one another?

Its an advertising taster not something that gives you any significant reduction in cost if you are actually using them. You get to experience the system, decide its too clunky to be worth paying for and ignore it thereafter. (A menu that required scrolling up to find the place to go every time I used it really isn't attractive) Or you get to experience it, think how ever did you manage without it beforehand, and SIMU gets a new stream of COIN. Its purpose is to get more COIN for SIMU not to allow players to pay one another rather than buy SIMUCOIN.

I had fun playing with it. Not something I'd buy but could be useful for towns you don't know as well or want to check maps, or feeling too lazy to type for those old skool of us ;)

These kids need to bring food back home after all..

Also, what Rathboner said, this is a free taste/tease of the offerings at the store. It won't be a whole day or month.

To make URCHIN look less clunky, including mention of the GUIDE option as well as STATUS and PLACES in its help info would be a good idea as well as a multi column format for the output from PLACES.

OK, so I got what appears to be an enhancive item pause pass. What do I do with this?

"So, what does that green line on the graph represent?"

"Oh, that's the projection of a hypothetical offspring from a union between Sauron and Cruella de Ville; we use that as a baseline for determining character alignment."

I'm curious where GUIDE is missing from? Its in the default help text that pops up when you type URCHIN. I believe URCHIN is also in the treasure system notification.

For the formatting, what type of screen size do you typically run with? We tend to try to keep menu lists from stretching too high, but multi-columns are a bit awkward for URCHIN, because the width of the columns are such that putting two side-by-side would make them run just past the typical max width we use, which would result in the ends of the columns tending to get cutoff and running onto a second line and making things even harder to read.

searching the log, it is there. I'm not sure why I missed it and ended up trying and failing to guess the verb. Possibly because its in plain text and the others are links, I was reading it as title rather than syntax. Possibly because the moment I clicked on the PLACES link it had scrolled off the top.

>For the formatting, what type of screen size do you typically run with?

1366*788, which works out at about 25 lines in the story window (my exact setup varies slightly with character, some might get 24 and some might get 26. 15 items in a single column isn't ideal, but works. 20 is probably losing something off the top that I'd like to see, even if the menu fits, and beyond 25 some of the menu items are scrolled off the top.
A menu such as e.g. IMITATE BIRD has 32 whistles arranged in four columns of 8 items each which occupies about half the width of my screen and works nicely. Put them in two columns of 16 and it would be getting dodgy because there's another 8 lines of output on the use of IMITATE which would be lost if any else was generating a message, and put them in a single column and the top of the menu plus the information on using IMITATE would be scrolled off the top.

This has nothing to do with me (and I didn't ask for more updates about any of these things so far), but just for those curious:

I run GS from a terminal with fixed fonts. Using vi, I determined it is 159 characters wide, and 50 lines long. Not all of that is for the main game window, but most of it is. It suits me just fine, though might have been rough for TSC in the late 90s.
