Had an idea for a character, a Norse type bard, with a spear in one hand, and a handaxe in the other. No matter what combination of grip (to change the spear from one hand to two hands) and no matter which hand which weapon is in, I can't get it to do two attacks. It only attacks once, whichever weapon is in my right hand. Fully 2x in one hand edge, polearm and twc.
Is this just not mechanistically possibly?

Shouldn't be that, since you can use a one handed pole arm and a shield.
Also, tried it with a pilum and a hand axe, since a pilum can only be one handed. Still no luck.

Its my understanding that no polearm can work with TWC.
However, I think you could get a thrown weapon base weapon to work with TWC, ie a javelin. The drawback is that although your polearms skill will work with the javelin for AS on melee attacks (it functions as a spear then) you will need thrown weapon skill to get any DS from the javelin.
I think anyway :)
Along with the change to gs4 they made many of the old grip-able weapons either not work with TWC or not work in the off hand, even when used in one handed mode. In gs3 you could do two spears (or spear and axe), not so any more.

That's pretty much what I remember also. However, the current question is if we have a grippable spear in the right hand, and a true OHE/OHB in the off hand, can we use both if at once we grip the spear in one hand and have trained in TWC. Unfortunately, I can't find a true spear in the Landing area shops so can't test this out.

You may have missed in the original post in which I explicitly mentioned I played around with various GRIP settings.
None-the-less, I will repeat it: I tried various grip settings, and none of them seemed to work.

As the starter of this thread, I, of course, think you should be able to dual wield one handed pole arms.
