Agreed. Letting people know when you launch something that is anticipated only helps. I'm just hoping that the introductory price is going to be good for more than these first few runs that only those sitting at their PCs madly pressing F5 will get.

Slow your roll, they just released enough for two runs so they can see how it goes, there will be many more releases. Everyone who wants to go should be able to go.

I understand that there will be more, but its the principle. I feel as though it is rather inconsiderate to put tickets up for sale without any advertising of when they will be available. It is just so inexcusable from a customer service standpoint, and although it isn't the end of the world, as a loyal customer I feel it necessary to express my grievances. Please give use a date and time for when the next batch will be available, and please tell us exactly when the RtCF tix will be available.

It doesn't really matter much when tickets go up for sale. Knowing an approximate time is only vaguely useful, and in many cases could make it even more difficult to get a ticket because then a lot of people are sitting there staring at their computers and refreshing their browser every 5 seconds. I know of at least one person who heard about it on Facebook, so maybe it would be wise to tune in to the external channels. The bottom line is that there were only 20 tickets with probably in excess of 100 that could be sold. I didn't get a ticket because they went up for sale at a time that I was away from my computer for an extended period of time. It would have made no difference had I known they would go on sale at 6:35 on Monday. I reject the notion that SIMU needs to notify the players in advance before they are allowed to sell tickets to an event.

I've been checking on and off all day because GMs stated they may go on sale today (Monday.) I was surprised because I thought they were going to only put Plat tickets up for sale at first, but I think there was ample warning to be on alert. Overall, it's a simple concept, everyone who got a ticket thinks the plan worked great, and lots of people who didn't get a ticket feel cheated somehow. But good things come to those who wait.

I understand the perception of what is fair is subjective, and I am not trying to argue. For me it simply breaks down to perceived courtesy toward customers. Simu is clearly able to model their own approach to ticket sales, and perhaps I am foolish for expecting them to conform to the practice that is exercised by most other businesses. I also wouldn't assume that those who have tickets feel as though the method of distribution is necessarily 'fair,' but that is neither here nor there. I simply want to feel valued as a customer and loyal player by being told when ticket sales will be. I find it hard to imagine you honestly feel like it would be too much for someone to of said "tickets will be on sale tomorrow at 5pm EST." I think I have bickered enough, but would be incredibly surprised if there is a more accurate warning for the next batches (including rtcf).

I was also checking periodically all day. Missed out because RL called and I had dinner out with a friend. Not a huge loss!

Would I have liked to have been in the first groups? Sure. My silver lining is that these first two runs will get the kinks worked out so that the later runs will go more smoothly. Kind of like the first release of an operating system or the first major new version of software or when a new restaurant opens. Wait a few weeks for them to fine tune it a bit before diving right in.

I didn't get a ticket, but I'm sure I will at some point. It's really not a big deal, in my view. I knew the day, and was even semi-monitoring these boards when they went on sale and still missed out. Not a big deal. There will be more runs. The prizes offered for this quest are great and it's nice to see a quantity of some higher end items available for distribution for a change. I've read these boards long enough to know that according to the player base (at least the ones who post here) no matter what GM's/Simu do/does, they're wrong and no matter what they offer, it's not good enough but even as a fellow player the repetitive malcontent posts are getting pretty old. The grace with which this is consistently handled by NIR's is amazing to me. I have kids of my own and so some practice with this kind of thing and I still wouldn't put up with it, which is why I'd never wish to be an NIR. I guess customer service just isn't my strong suit. ;) Looking forward to the puzzles of BSC. NatA was fun, but the focus on puzzles rather than combat of BSC is more my cup of tea. Appreciate the work that's gone into this.

Just cause I know I'm the only one who did ask for the refund after the prizes got redone, and I didn't get it.

It's not staff's fault or billings, the decision was Solomon's. So what's with that? One thing is said and another is done? That hard up for pocket change?

And before you (Solomon) try to respond with a "but" I don't view store credit and a limited use of said store credit as a refund, as I'm sure 99.9% of the rest of the world does. It is a cheap and sad way to say "oh? fine we will give the money back but only if you buy something else from us so we actually get to keep it". Sure I have a credit towards a Simutronics GemStone4 service, but a limited one only good for a box office event. Not like you didn't make your money, the spot resold to another player shortly after it was opened back up.

Not like it's a huge financial lose at $13.49, it's the principal of it. I'll use it when RtCF comes along not like you wouldn't have gotten the cash out of me for something at some point. So for future reference don't tell your paying customers one thing and then go ahead and do something else as you planned to anyway.

It's just bad for business.

For some reason I've been playing this game more or less steady since I was a kid at age 12, and I'm in my mid thirties with a family now. Go ahead check your records, this is not a good way to treat a long time customer or to try to keep one.

I can tell you I won't be doing any of these mini quests for a good long while, if ever again due to this regardless of what flavored carrot is dangled at the end of it.

Ok, couple of things here.

1. If you have a problem with a refund or lack of refund or any other billing matter, you MUST take it up with billing. No one on the boards can help you. If you're just wanting to vent, your venting is best directed to feedback.

2. I know that one DM run has forever soured ticket sales for everyone and you're going to hold it over our heads kind of like monks were. We have been suitably chastised. Surely there is something else to move on to.

3. We're going to run this until people stop buying tickets. You will get a run. We had to get these runs up in a bit of hurry for backend reasons. Please remember that whatever time we announce and put tickets up for sale is not going to work for someone. Please remember this isn't a limited run event.

4. Custom runs are not too far off. You pick the time, you (optionally) pick the group. Awesome, huh?

5. I am sad to not see some competition between prime and plat on completing the quest. World first titles are at stake here! Come to think of it, why are Houses and MHO's not competing? Glory and honor await! Toss your names into a flammable container today!

Yeah, don't put yourself on the spot by comparing anything to monks.

I think that a lot of people just don't pay detailed attention to the boards beyond announcements, since I do I wasn't worried about tickets selling out last night. Perhaps an announcement concerning #3 would help allay any fears people might have of another ticket debacle.

A run with house members would be fun, thanks for the idea, but that would mean waiting for the custom runs.

Hmmm... Sleken...Sleken...Sleken... nope SGM not involved or able to affect this in any way.... input/feedback welcome but useless, thanks for trying.

But to respond to 1 and 2 as 3 and 4 are for others.

Venting? A little bit done in a polite manner I thought.

As to feedback, I've gone down that road before. That ended up with me canceling my accounts and my wife canceling hers (who never has glanced back).

As to the DM run, I honestly don't think you learned what you say you did from that, as a company.

To the OP I mostly play Plat anymore these days when I have time to log in. I pop in Prime now and again but it's rare, usually when an old friend asks me to. I did do the first run in Plat, wasn't exactly something I feel I would want to do again. I did have fun for the most part, but that's due to the group I was with then the quest itself.

I was of the mind to help the second run get to the point of the first a little quicker so they had a chance to get farther and possibly a better prize, then again there was something that peaked my interest enough to make that decision at the time of the ticket purchase. Yeah I like shiny things as much as the next person.

All in all I do hope everyone has fun who goes, it's what we pay for after all.

You know, I really get tired of reading stuff like this "Waaah, it's not exactly what I want."

You DID get a refund, it wasn't a full cash refund, but it's no different than an in-store credit. You yourself admitted you'd use it anyway, so I'm not really sure where the "principle of the matter" is. You've played this game since you were 12... as long as I can remember there has not a NO REFUND policy on all events, so when this one is different (because of what ever reason, mistake, you think they were trying to bait and switch, doesn't really matter), they DID give you a refund, just not EXACTLY what you wanted.

It's one of those you can't make everyone happy situations. You're supposedly the only one who took it. You got a credit, you weren't forced to pay for it... that's a refund. Then you want to take it up in a public forum where the people involved can't help you? And on top of it all that's really going to happen is the negative people are going to be more negative (even though really for some people it doesn't take much), and you're not going to get any help anyway.

ANYONE who posts here is 'not involved or able to affect this in any way' which was Sleken's point, so really, you're not doing anything constructive. What is the point of this? No one here can say "Oh give him his money back" and you hurt the community more than anything else... all over what, $14.00? That was given back to you anyway... just not in the form you wanted it?

The point is, and it's a very valid one at that, items were changed AFTER tickets were sold. It may have not been malicious, and I'm sure it wasn't, but it's still a pretty big mistake for a company to make. There should have been a no questions asked policy to refund peoples credit cards for the the price of the tickets if they wanted a refund. A store credit in this case just isn't acceptable for any reason. Any bank would say the same thing and do a charge back/investigation.

<You DID get a refund, it wasn't a full cash refund, but it's no different than an in-store credit.>

You know when someone says refund my understanding of refund is written in the oxford dictionary. So unfortunatly your supposition of in-store credit is flawed.

Definition of refund
verb
Pronunciation: /riˈfənd, ˈrēˌfənd/

[with object]
pay back (money), typically to a customer who is not satisfied with goods or services bought:
if you’re not delighted with your purchase, we guarantee to refund your money in full
pay back money to (someone):
I’ll refund you for the apples and any other damage
noun
Pronunciation: /ˈrēˌfənd/

a repayment of a sum of money, typically to a dissatisfied customer:
you are entitled to reject it and insist on a refund
you’ll get an immediate tax refund

I see no store credit in the definition of refund.

store credit
definitions
An outstanding credit on a Customer account that can be applied to an Invoice as a Payment..

So if someone was promised a refund they should receive what they where promised or it is again a bait an switch, but that's a different discussion

The promised service was the quest. Prizes are a plus, that's fine, but the QUEST is what you're paying for. That product was delivered. Nobody has come even close to a tier 6 prize, so the fact that they changed at the last minute in no way devalued anyone's experience.

I think Simu has gone way out of their way to make their customers happy here, yet some people are never going to be happy.

This should never have been a big deal. The prizes are still awesome, the quest is exactly the same, and nobody lost anything by the change. You paid, you played, you had some fun. Now you want a refund because of a minor adjustment to the top tier prizes you basically had no chance to win anyway?

I think priorities are way out of whack here.

I don't see it that way. I see it as you pay X amount of money and you get the chance to win Y prizes. The tier 6 prizes were really amazing so of course people jumped at the chance to buy tickets. No matter you try to interpret that it is still a case of bait and switch, especially under Missouri state law.

Oh, please. First of all, from all indications it was an honest mistake with no intent to "bait and switch." Simu has no reason to resort to such practices. This is perfectly evident since tickets continue to sell out within an hour of being offered. Second, even though the prizes may have changed, they are still great and well worth the price, alone. Finally, you may see it differently, but the product is the quest. If it was only about the prizes, they could have just sold raffle tickets and saved themselves months of hard work.

If I was a GM that just worked my butt off putting out this great product, only to have it utterly disregarded because of this petty nonsense over prizes most people won't come close to winning, I would feel pretty fed up right about now.
