I just got notice from the office that a player has (willingly) cancelled their ticket to give someone else a shot.

Instead of putting it in the Box Office, I'd like to see what you guys think.

I'd like to run an auction for the ticket, or a high-priced raffle. You will only be winning the opportunity to purchase the event ticket. Just like the original raffle. But I can understand that this ticket will have a higher "street" value.

Let your opinion be known, I'll be doing something Wednesday night for it.

how high do you mean by high-priced raffle? how about a not-so-high-priced raffle accessible to standard accounts? or a golden ticket Willy Wonka-style

This is more a special case. This isn't the billing method failing. This person had emailed us and asked to put the ticket back out there. So special cases deserve some more thought.

Yes, if I do a raffle or auction, it will be somewhere anyone can get to. We fulfilled Premium getting first stab.

How is an in game auction ever remotely fair? Basically its only available to a select few. Not everyone has hundreds of millions in silver. So the rich get richer.

Why not open it up real cash auction? Is that what you want anyways? $$$$

The raffle idea worked, auction is lame.

We already had raffle lets do an old fashion silvers auction. Considering more then 80 percent of services or items will be available for sale or resold afterwards. Why not see who wants it the most and drain some silvers out of the game as well.

The fest will drain silvers anyway. I am not to keen on a silver auction, because really it is something that is only for .1% of the people. If you are going to do an auction, I say just do a cash auction via a 3rd party site and be done with it. Otherwise just do a box office sale for it. I mean.. with the box office.. you have to just happen to refresh the second it becomes available anyway. Practically a lotto.

seriously? You take the silvers then take $200? that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Alright, my opinion is very simple.
Auction will restrict it to the elder players, or those that have stockpiled silvers. While some of us fall into that category, this is a single ticket. It will end up being simply that ONE person that wants to pay like late 8 early 9 digits to do this. And then pay 200 on top of that.
Raffle was already done. That was the entire premie thing. People went far and wide to participate. I and four friends, three of us upgraded to premium JUST to take part. One of our two permanent premium people got a ticket, rest of us didn't. Not a big thing, we were happy we at least got one for our group. Such is the randomness of it. But this isn't a premium vs basic cut. A raffle set in the middle of Wehnimer's Landing doesn't make it accessible just because it's in Basic. It just makes people see that they can't afford the 5/10mil ticket. Several of us are planning on spending 100+ million at this festival, but I do know of a few who did get tickets who plan on working on 5x gear. Not exactly amazing, but it's their ticket, and their gear, and their decision. It's players like this that will get removed from contention in this raffle. Whether Premium or Basic.
The Box Office is neutral. It doesn't care. It's posted mysteriously, it gets bought mysteriously. And all we knew about the who/what/when/why/how was that it would be posted sometime today Monday, or tomorrow Tuesday. I was set to refresh the Box Office for the next two days. because I am a geek. My vote is for the Box Office. Whoever gets it, gets it. You can't automate it because of the Captcha picture thing you guys use. So people will have to WANT to sit there and wait. They have to show their desire to throw money at Simu for the chance at making something amazing.

Just my two cents. I hope they help. And thank you for the Voln Answer, Wyrom. Am I correct in saying Voln carries a 600 surcharge, across the board? Krakiipedia is not completely up to date, and would like some verification from any source about the priciness of Voln scripts. Thank you so much!

Brilliant, haha.

I think a raffle for non-Premium seems like a great idea -- the raffle-style distribution method just used was over-all a lot more popular and a lot less painful (invisible exploding things aside), and seemed the most fair to everyone. Kudos for that!

Why not? They are taking the 200, and then taking silvers for the services.

because this is now triple charging.

standard accounts now have a shot at 1 ticket. How about doing exactly what was done on mist harbor. Players have been bled of their funds, both silvers and dollars, enough.

It's just one ticket. Have fun with an auction/high-priced raffle and see just how badly some people want to go to the event. I'm not going to get hung up on exception handling for 1 ticket no matter what you do. The initial/main distribution process was great.

It seems like you are almost looking for some grief over this by opening up the conversation for 1 ticket but maybe some useful ideas will come out of this for future events. I will continue to advocate for less restricted attendance events in the future (same prize pool, lower entry cost, no guaranteed win). Less pay to win, more pay to participate. As someone who likes going to any/all of the events offered this has been a pretty disappointing last year (or so) in terms of the number of pay events that have had very restrictive participation limits.

I'm just trying to do right for the last ticket. If it were a billing method failing to charge, we'd have gone as planned.

I'm leaning toward a high-priced raffle though.

I would do the raffle open to all, (who don't already have a ticket of course), but not at a high price.

Prime players have already got just a tiny chance of getting it and were completely left out of the other 49 tickets, let's not add insult to injury and charge them more for the chance. It's one ticket, be generous and do the raffle at the same 1k entry point. This is the fair thing to do.

Doing it via the box office just leaves makes it a twitch contest, and that sucks.

Raffle sounds good. But not at an increased price. The price of the ticket and the services offered are already through the roof.

I vote raffle with at least 12-24 hours notice.

Exclude accounts that have already won a ticket so you don't have to honor it if they win (nominate another account?) and come up with some lame excuse to appease the angry mob at the same time.

There are always a few out there that will try and see if they can get away with it.

Something I thought of while reading all these posts.
If the box office is out, and you're learning to a raffle, why not do what you did with Premium, but for Basic? Restrict the raffle to Basic accounts that have been basic for at least before the raffle is posted? As you said, Premium got first grab. 49/50 tickets claimed. Why not give Basic their 1k Raffle shot at this? It's ONE ticket. 2% of the batch. If anyone from Premium whines about that, good god, they have issues. Leave it up like in front of Moot Hall and whoever gets it, gets it. RNG couldn't be truer, and doesn't exclude people who aren't exactly flush. Just my thoughts.

I'd suggest mid-priced raffle. Somewhere between 25k to 100k. This is likely going to be the only basic player ticket.

One last option.

We randomly select a name from the remaining pool of names that already participated in the Premium raffle. There would be no other raffle. There would be no other interaction.

You have a few hours to respond to this before we figure out what we're doing.

Frankly I think this option is best considering the person returned the ticket. I know basic members may be furious... but they did have the option of upgrading for the chance to spend 200. If they chose not to... well, that's a choice.

I think that of the mentioned options, either the newest option, of drawing from the pool who already purchased a ticket OR holding a new raffle altogether (normal ticket price) would be the best.

Holding a new raffle of very high ticket price doesn't make sense to me. Putting ticket price barrier up for people who don't have the silver to throw around doesn't seem in keeping with the original intent of the original distribution plan, it just seems arbitrary.

Similar with an auction...if you put it up for auction, it comes down to a bidding war between the handful ultra-rich, with the vast majority of the player base effectively excluded. This is easily the most restrictive thing you could do, and I imagine a lot of people will be angry if this goes down.

My own interest would be best served by the option of drawing from the remaining tickets of the original drawing, but, objectively, I see how creating a new raffle, open to basic subscribers and premium alike is likely to satisfy the most people.
