Agreed!

Just want to say -- I think the whole distribution process was handled extremely well this time around... definite accolades to the those responsible for taking all the feedback from RtCF and devising a new system that seems both fair, and to have went off without a visible hitch. The event itself sounds awesome and equally well-executed, so kudos for that as well.

Big hearty grats! to everyone who won, hope you have a great time!

At the beginning of the raffle drawing, something started blowing up. I said something, as I thought it was about to crash us. There was much profanity coming out of my mouth here at the keys!

But yes, this has been a very delightful experience!

KEY WORD BEING VISIBLE WYROM. THEY WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN!

It came at a reaaaaally inconvenient time for those of us NPCing at the trial in Ta'Illistim, too! If you were wondering about the dramatic pause between "and the traitor is" and the reveal, it's because the GMs couldn't see what was going on in the room and I was frantically trying to upload a temporary fix.

I hope you guys use this distribution method for all your limited ticketed event. Maybe for the next EG auction?

Distribution method appears to have worked great, next time lets not just limit it to premie and I think we have a winner!

So we had 3 rtcf, now we just need 3 of these. Looks like a great event and I wish I was going, but I am glad to see the lack of 10,000 negative posts. Kudos to Wyrom and crew.

Unlikely. Premie people complain a lot when basic people get to do things too.

I can't believe I'm the only one upset but here goes. I am a long time player and I returned to gemstone after a year or so break around November. I have two premium accounts and this is the second pay event in a row that i wanted to attend but that i can't even get into. I was locked out of the last droughtman run because of the sign up issues (I did like the new raffle method for this event but there shouldn't be a need for a raffle because we all should be able to get into paid events that we want to attend!!!). How can you judge this a success and congratulate yourselves when at least half of your customers are dissatisfied because they can't even get a ticket to the event? The only reason I stick around is because I've gotten so used to being dissappointed time and time again. And why would you keep out non-premium accounts completely? That is ridiculous. If I was non-premium I'd be furious. And why wouldn't you give everyone access to the shops (or at least charge a smaller fee to get into the shops)? The coraesine fields events have all come and gone and this 20 year gemstone lap dog has never even had a chance to attend them. Honestly, how hard can it be to satisfy the "majority" of your customers, because that is not what happened yesterday? So yes congrats on the successful event! Your definition of successful just seems a bit off.

and if you had gotten into it and not gotten what you wanted (or anything) what would happen then?

>why would you keep out non-premium accounts completely?

(1) because people wanted fairer methods and the way they determined fewer fake accounts would be created would be to have the raffle on four winds. any prime account could have upgraded temporarily for this. I did for one of my accounts. I still didn't make it into the event.
(2) because one of the premium perks is to have early access to pay events. with only 50 tickets and one run, I bet premium members would cry bloody murder if it was opened to basic accounts.

>why wouldn't you give everyone access to the shops (or at least charge a smaller fee to get into the shops)?

I agree I would like shop access again. Although really you can tip someone to do your shopping for you.

>The coraesine fields events have all come and gone and this 20 year gemstone lap dog has never even had a chance to attend them.

with all due respect, you are not a 20 year lap dog if you have not been a constant customer for that long. You missed the runs last summer which means you missed the outrage on how they were sold (half the tickets were reserved for prime accounts).

You can either be pissed or let it go and work on getting the services you want from someone who is going. I have two lined up and a third in the works. I am paying fair prices on top of the service fee and have found attendees who will make deals with me. I recommend checking the unofficials for people offering slots (http://forum.gsplayers.com).

Yeah I saw where you commented Wyrom. I am sad I did not get a ticket but it is probably for the best. I'm just thankful that you sped up the drawing so I didn't have to wait through 50 minutes of one name a minute. That would have been just torture. Although I was mostly watching Myasara about to throttle Hycinthe the brother killer.

You need to hang that handmaiden now!

Not hard, but instant complete gratification will ruin a game faster than anything. The moment something is easy to obtain is the moment it loses all value.

I'd say RtCF is about as close to real $ for specific items/service as any event I've seen to date short of simply selling these items and services directly at the SimuCoins store.

Yeah I didn't get a ticket either, but I'm happy that ya'll listened to feedback and went with a different system. :)

I'd suggest its time for a festival with a list of awesome services like this that are limited to 1 per account, ie 200 top notch services with 200 openings for tickets. I know its been done in the past, hope ya'll are thinking of doing it again. Or maybe a Hot Summer Nights style auction with 1 auction win per account with auction tents segmented by levels and/or account longevity (thanks again for the attention to limiting the possibility of throw away accounts winning this latest batch). Just so long as things are semi equivalent in perceived value, no more boobie prizes although ya'll seem to have addressed this already ... I think any of the Tier 1-4 wins at this event would be top notch wins for those type events.

In fact I'm surprised more things aren't limited at most pay festivals like EG to 1 win per account.

I can give a little insight. These sort of events take a lot out of staff. It might seem like we can push through several events, but the more we schedule things, the more strain it puts on everyone. Most of us are hobbyists when it comes to GMing. We have jobs and families that come before GS. So you could say we do this in our free time. I have more free time than most right now, so I'm very visible.

There was talk about doing a "super" run of RtCF last summer. But with EG planning, Necropolis monitoring, and a DMC run, it just wasn't in the cards. I took every drop of feedback from RtCF and started formulating a way to make another run work. But there is another factor I had to figure out, which was probably the hardest for me. And that was the story. It might sound cheesy or corny, but I needed to make this work for Elanthia, as well as for players. There needed to be a reason for it all. And it's not because I want you to think you have to "pay to play." I just need to make sure it's less PULL LEVER, GET LOOT. But the game history is something I hold a little higher than pushing out events.

The more tickets we sell, the more things get diluted. When I planned the RtCF runs, the 101 ticket format caused us to get too diluted. And the way our MAJOR system works, it's not easy to keep track of wins when we have a lot of people. So smaller events allow us to make everyone walk away like they got their money's worth. We probably could have done this with only 3 tiers and had more people be able to come, but at the price point, I didn't want too many people to feel they walked away with something they hated. Tier 1 was very tough to balance. Monty Haul is a fear of mine.

We can't open the grounds so that anyone can shop. The grounds are part of the festival, and we have entrance mechanics. We basically use the grounds so we can see our ticket goers. But we have some future plans for some shopping. And fusion. And features. Outside of Coraesine Field.

The raffle system we used for this can definitely be done again for smaller events, but it takes a lot of work. And we'd have to continue using the IFW to keep abuse to a minimum.

Coraesine Field will have a finale this run. Should we do another service-heavy event, it will be at a new, more controlled, venue.

As someone who was unable to get a ticket to RTCF and was thoroughly frustrated with the process...I was still unable to get a ticket to this event. That being said, I really appreciate the distribution method. This should be used from now on in the future for all high end events. Wouldn't mind seeing another run of this though! Thanks for all your hard work Wyrom.

I'd rather have it sold on the website to be honest. As stressful as it is. Going totally raffle in game for purchase out of game just doesn't make sense to me. It's way OOC. If we have limited events in the future maybe we can have some runs one way and other runs another way for ticket distribution. Not all ingame raffle and not all just website click and pray.

I would trust my clicking ability over blind luck in a raffle, but I do see the benefits in the raffle method and as long as we never revisit the rtcf method I think we'll be fine. I do wish we had 3 of this event just like we had 3 of the rtcf event, I'd at least get 2 more shots at going one time. I actually for once in my gs career have the coins to do most anything I want there aaaaannnndd no ticket. This is the first event I will have missed since the Dhu Gillywack. It doesn't feel right to miss this. I do love the look of the event and how it was broken into tiers and everything.

Allow unlimited access to every pay event at a lower price point. Keep the number of major wins the same. Guarantee nothing but door prizes. Do GALD liberally. If you win a major, great. If not, you got to go and have the chance. This does away with all the box office manipulation problems and everyone, even basic subscribers, gets to participate. Guaranteeing major wins IS pay to play, and limits ticket availability which is the cause of all the problems we've seen over the last year, imo.

Wait so, a raffle you enter in game and then get to go an event is MORE OOC than you clicking a website and your character being able to go through a portal owing to zero in game interaction. The fact that you have to do something out of the game is there either way, but certainly the merit of anything in game is more IC than not.

I don't see it making a huge difference to the system for most people, but this method is absolutely more IC than the website clicking. Except for the 1 person per run that got the ticket from an envelope, naturally.

I guess it was just staring at the big warning sign that made me cringe. Yes, I know it had to be there because people would have entered not knowing otherwise. I am glad it went off without a hitch or game crash.
