Has anyone heard any Krolvin say anything that has been translated with the ear worn spiral? Any Krolvin anywhere? I just want to see how this works. So far, so silent! I know Vannah has stated the limitations of this earcuff in this thread, but I was hoping for some use out of it. Not looking to find the Krolvin equivalent of Shakespeare but a few translated words to compare with untranslated would be fantastic.
If you've used your translator successfully, can you let me know.

Translator spiral on 05/27/2014 01:09 AM CDT
Re: Translator spiral on 05/27/2014 10:31 AM CDT
The first run I went on one krolvin did say something in krolgeh/krolgah(sp?) before we blasted him into tiny burnt chunks. My second run nothing lived long enough to do so, or if it did it was lost to the scroll. I bought the spiral after that and went on my 3rd run and kept my eye out for talking krolvin, but the group I was with killed everything in like.. 1.5 seconds per swarm. I was very much hoping to learn some additional clues or puzzles, but no luck. I'm half tempted to request a private run and solo it just so I can wander around trying to figure out what each parchment might be useful for or what the captain's quarters might entail. I have a few theories and have been testing them as we went along, but nothing so far.

I wore my spiral on my last run for that very reason. It was only me on the run so I slowed down the latter part of the quest by not killing everything immediately. The only words I heard was a distant call - a vocal alarm - to say that we were in the cells freeing prisoners, but no idea if my hearing this was something to do with the spiral or just passive messaging.
I may have another shot or two at the quest in June and may see if I can fathom anything by just allowing the Krolvin to hit me and speak, rather than killing them outright.
I am of course hoping the spiral will be useful outside the quest - During the Cross of Shadows event for example - where wearing the spiral may allow us to hear plans, insults, love talk from the lips of the Krolvin...well perhaps not love talk! * shiver *
I re-read Vanah's post and as long as the krolgeh language isn't hard coded, we should see - or rather hear - the translated version..

Re: Translator spiral on 05/27/2014 05:01 PM CDT
The spirals work the same as any other language earcuff. They let you understand the language in the language system.
If a player is using the player-made Dhe'narsi language, the earcuff ain't gonna do jack for you. If the player is using SPEAK DHE'NAR or whatever it is, you'll understand it if you are wearing a Dhe'nar language earcuff.
The spiral works the same for any Krolvin language. If it's tagged as Krolvin in the language system, you'll hear it just as if you were a HK. If someone is just using the lexicon and speaking in Common, I can't help.
As an example of what you might hear, the krolvin on the ship have an idle message where they shift into defensive posture and do either "A puny krolvin blade shifts into a defensive stance while muttering to himself in Krolvin, 'A dumb krolvin is a dead krolvin'" if you understand the language or "Awrdakra krol kak burzmokt krol" if you don't. There are other messages where you'll just get "X says something in Krolvin." if you don't understand.
There is no messaging to let you know that the spiral is working. It works as long as you are wearing it.

I never thought I'd be so pleased to be tied to the mast today. It seems the Krolvin become more talkative the more vulnerable you are. hehe. The spiral works well.
Fun run today.
One question - How long is the portal available to get back to the place of origin? Could I have theoretically stayed in Wehnimers for a few days before using the portal?

You have 60 minutes to pass through the portal.
