Has anyone played with 610 on the test server?
I see a lot of discussion about 616 and I do use that spell sometimes, but 610 is my OHE ambushing ranger's bread and butter so I'm more curious about people's impressions of those changes....
Starchitin, the OG
A severed gnomish hand crawls in on its fingertips and makes a rude gesture before quickly decaying and rotting into dust. A gust of wind quickly scatters the dust.
As 610 is, in addition to, our AS booster I was using it a lot during my tests of the new spell changes.
What do you want to know? It is extremely useful (more so than now). The damage seems to be amped up and I assume that is mostly in part to the nature debuff we can add now with 603 or 625 flare.
I didn't notice any decrease in effectiveness in tripping anything.
The only downside, and I'll have to check this in prime, is that when you cast it against an immune creature you are basically stuck with a useless weed. It won't switch to a new target. You cannot cast a new weed at a new target. You cannot STOP the current weed. Pretty minor downside as I'm not sure how many IMMUNE creatures there are (forest Bendiths just happen to be where I am hunting and those are immune).
<I didn't notice any decrease in effectiveness in tripping anything. >
This was my main concern. Any damage it does is secondary to getting things on the ground for my daggers to take out. Do critters still leave the room a vine is in (prolly not as noticeable if you're not in the shadows) fairly reliably... the other reason I use it so much is it's great for crowd control, encouraging anything that's not disabled to move on rather then joining in the fight.

This is concerning.... esp the part about it not switching targets. As it is now, it tends to favor the target it was CAST at, but there's a decent chance for it to target any critter that happens to be in the room when it lashes out... and pretty much anything noncorp, lacking legs, or that flies are immune to it. STOP isn't the verb for getting rid of them though, have you tried DISMISSing them?

There are still immune monsters so don't expect any change there. Either the weed does t work or gets destroyed like it does now. I didn't pay attention to damage numbers ut the AS boost is worth the lores to get unless you plan on using it to setup 616 which has its pros and cons over 611
Hhhmmm.... Dunno if I'll get the Blessing lore for it. Extra AS is always useful, but I don't NEED it enough to drop Summoning ranks for it (esp since they modify the chance of success for the new version). If anything I'll prolly be getting more Summoning lore then I already have. Might pick up some Blessing when I have extra TPs though.

I didn't know DISMISS was used. I went into test and dismissed vine and that did end the spell.
As far as the vine getting destroyed as the other poster said I've never seen that happen in Prime or in TEST so not sure what they mean about it. The spell does a great amount of damage and is crazy useful. I feel like it effectively keeps things from attacking you. I think I had three things in the room and only had a few (3) swings at me. Otherwise everything was in RT from getting dragged down and having to stand up.

Thanks for posting that, puts my mind at ease.
I still doubt I'll rush to get Blessing Lore, but I can see picking up 10-15 ranks as my training allows. Depends on how happy I am with my 28 ranks in Summoning once these changes go live. I hadn't planned on getting more then that, but with the review I'll have to reevaluate.
