Well, this went into place, and in general it's a good thing. There are a few glitches in the system, however, mostly due to figuring out the correct command parsing.
You can't pick your box up off the table, so you have to work on it while it's there. An you need to check the questions that the worker will answer.
The big problem I had was with plated boxes. Holding a vial doesn't work, since you apparently cant pour a vial from a distance. The pour command, in point of fact, doesn't work at all. You just have to type disarm again. BUT! You have to have a vial in a specific location in order for this to work; just having it in your backpack won't do.
I thought I had it worked out, and managed to do it once, with the vial in my toolkit and wearing the toolkit. Or, at least I thought that was it, but then it didn't work on the second plated box. You can pop the boxes, of course, but that wont work with mithril, enruned or glyphed boxes.
Does anyone recall exactly how to deal with plated boxes? Where to have the vial, that is?

we use that as a baseline for determining character alignment."

Hold the toolkit in one hand and the vial in the other and BUNDLE them together... if you just place the vial in the toolkit it won't work.

Well that's odd; It DID work for me once, and I know for certain that I did not use the "bundle" command. However, I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
And then where do I place the toolkit? It definitely will not work if I am holding anything in either hand.

You WEAR the toolkit.... most attach to the belt, though there have been some sold at events that attach elsewhere. Once the vials are bundled into the kit, they act like anything else in it (cotton, putty, etc)

OK I bundled a couple vials into my toolkit. Let's see if it works. But I know for sure I did not use the bundle command on the one time I did get it to work.

OK, bundle actually worked; thanks for the info. This sort of thing is not intuitive, and should be explained by a post referring to the new system. I spent something like 30 minutes
trying to replicate my first try success.

Re: Locksmith job system on 03/02/2020 07:49 PM CST
OK, this is annoying! I asked for a job, and got a mithril box from a level 106 soul siphon. No problem; Guenn can open any box. I examine the box, only to find that someone had already tried to open it, but blew an acid trap and the lock was fused. Well picking was out, popping was out, so I did the only thing I could and wedged it open.
The worker got upset! Said I needed to "be more discrete", and told me to take a time out ... not only did I not get paid, he wouldn't give me any more jobs for a while!
A couple of minutes later, I asked for a job and got this response: The worker says, "You haven't quite reflected on your past failure. Why don't you ask me again a few minutes from now."
This needs to be fixed; some boxes can be opened no other way. Was I supposed to refuse the job?

Re: Locksmith job system on 03/03/2020 04:57 PM CST
Also, I just realized that I am retrieving significantly fewer vials from acid traps now. That's because many times the vials remain inside the box after being disarmed. If I am working for a live customer, I can ask for the vial, but here, the vials stay in the box. The customer, who probably has little use for them, ends up getting them. This will make the plated box problem even worse.

More locksmithing nonsense.
OK, not only does the worker get upset if you wedge a box, he also gets annoyed if you turn down the job and give th box back. Please fix this!

They probably don't want to track who has returned which box to any degree (in my opinion some boxes are not appropriate for the pool and should be returned by everyone, but they are going to hassle you to take them because they don't want the pool gummed up with hundreds of boxes that they are needing to record are unacceptable to every one of the hundreds of smiths that looked each of them.)

That my be, but it doesn't explain why wedging a box is also considered a failure.
