How do I use these?

I have not generated any essence during my current Gift of Lumnis due to travel so I figured this would be the perfect (only) time I could get use out of these.

I traded in my infused potions and got the essence potions.

I threw away a piece of garbage to ensure lumnis correctly started for the new period.

I took a drink of the first potion and got
You take a drink from your essence potion.
The fiery liquid burns your throat as you drink it, causing you to cough and gag!
[You sense that you have absorbed 6400 essence for enchanting.]
You have only about 4 quaffs left.

Two subsequent drinks from two different potions only result in
You take a drink from your essence potion.
YUCK! That stuff tastes horrible!
The fiery liquid burns your throat as you drink it, causing you to cough and gag!
[You sense that you have absorbed 0 essence for enchanting.]

405 on the potions indicate
You gesture at a swirling essence potion.
The layers of essence permeating the essence potion unfold before you to reveal the patterns of an enchanting potion. You determine that a swirling essence potion is a standard potion used to prepare items for enchantment up to one time.
Waves of mana surrounding the essence potion causes your vision to blur slightly, however peering deeply into the flows of essence you discover that it has been infused with mana by you. Also, you determine that the essence potion will reduce the temper time by 20 percent.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

Given that I've now wasted two drinks with no benefit, I'm posting here before I try again and completely lose out. Is there some timer I need to wait out or such before I can use more? SENSE doesn't indicate my temp pool is full or anything so I don't think I'm waiting to convert the essence.

Any other suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

Could you provide the output from when you type SENSE? Also, could you BUGITEM the potion so I can look at it?

Sure thing. Here's SENSE
You study your surroundings and use your keen knowledge of the arcane. It quickly becomes evident that this room is not a magical workshop.
You sense a convergence in the flows of essence and gather that this place must be a natural earthnode.
You sense that you have accumulated enough essence to complete a +38 enchantment.

BUGITEM submitted on the first potion (the one that read as 20 percent). Let me know if you'd also like a BUGITEM on the second I tried.

A detail I missed in my first post - these were converted from gorveneh potions in case that matters.

Thanks for looking!

I wanted to comment on this as I'm working on cleaning up some of the tempering potion issues at the moment and when the fixes go in these will change.

If you're seeing this message...
[You sense that you have absorbed 0 essence for enchanting.]

It means you've already used up any essence that can be used in the potion. Even though 405 still shows the original reduction amount of 20 percent. When the updates go in the potions will properly indicate they're empty of essence, but I wanted to clarify so you didn't think they broke further. Anytime you see the 0 essence for enchanting, you've already used the essence up.

I just pushed a change that fixes drinkable wizard enchanting potions that had previously been infused with mana.

If you have a potion that was previously broken on attempting to drink from it, like the example below, this fix should repair it.

You gesture at a sparkling mirtokh potion.
The layers of essence permeating the mirtokh potion unfold before you to reveal the patterns of an enchanting potion. You determine that a sparkling mirtokh potion is a standard potion used to prepare items for enchantment up to 6 times. Obvious to your observation, the potion was crafted by a skilled alchemist and provides a persistent bonus of 5 percent to temper time reduction.

Waves of mana surrounding the mirtokh potion causes your vision to blur slightly, however peering deeply into the flows of essence you discover that it has been infused with mana by you. Also, you determine that the mirtokh potion will reduce the temper time by -132192 percent.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

Drinking from these potions will fix the negative amounts showing, log it to your account, and put them back on track for rewarding proper essence on the new system. Additionally drinking while there is still essence will not waste any sips, so you don't have to worry about using up the potion in this process.

A note.
These potions haven't received any additional changes beyond the bug fix above. That means the same original rules apply: meaning it won't exceed your weekly/max caps and will cause you to hit them.

>> sense
>> You study your surroundings and use your keen knowledge of the arcane. It quickly becomes evident that this area is not a magical workshop.

>> You sense a convergence in the flows of essence and gather that this place must be a natural earthnode.
You sense that you have accumulated enough essence to complete a +33 enchantment.

>> The rapid accumulation of static essence has left you feeling overwhelmed and temporarily unable to absorb any new essence.

>> You have 24706 mana points in your personal mana pool available for infusing potions.

Thanks for the update Viduus. I haven't followed this issue very closely, instead just hanging onto my mana points until it appeared things had been fixed. Does this mean that we can safely INFUSE old style tempering potions with remaining mana pool points and then sip those potions to add to our Weekly / Total Essence (understanding that weekly / total limits apply)?

Infusing your old mana has always been safe as far as I know. It was just the consumption that had some hiccups. The bug fixed certain potions breaking when drank. Currently weekly/total caps still firmly apply.

That being said, I've recently gotten approval to review the weekly cap limitation of these potions.

Additionally, we're also discussing moving enchant to the experienced based system that tattoos use over it's current hunt-centric model. No ETA on either at this point as I'm knee deep in mangling paladins, but I hope to have more on this after we've progressed that.
