Okay, so maybe not grues!
Deep within Kotwynn Forest lies a shop by the name of Backwoods. It was recently discovered by Briarmoon Cove residents who happened upon a mist-enshrouded trail that had mysteriously appeared within Tilaok Terrace. A few brave adventurers ventured down the trail, and it was weeks before they returned. However, details of the shop sparked interest within the coastal town. They hope to return once the festival is underway.
Forest Armor is a new armor script making its debut at Briarmoon Cove. It's (currently) only available from Backwoods. This is a tiered armor script, and all armor types are available in the shop.
What does it do? That's a good question! I'll try to summarize for you.
The armor has been touched by Imaera, herself, and will call upon the powers of the forest for the wearer! There are 4 tiers; each tier carries both an enhancive benefit (ranks), as well as a special combat ability; Subsequent tiers add that respective tier's benefits to the armor.
The benefits are as follows:
Tier 1 (off-the-shelf)
+1 perception
Wind Gust - lowers creature DS
Tier 2
+1 Stalking and Hiding
Leaf Swirl - increases player DS
Tier 3
+1 Survival
Mud Sling - decreases creature AS
Tier 4
+1 Climbing
Woodland Empathy - increases player AS/CS
The values for the special abilities is random, between 3 and 5, and its duration is random. Firing chances on the special abilities increases with each tier, as well. Limited unlocks for the armor will be offered at the festival. It's quite zesty, and it doesn't work in water.
The best part? Forest gnomes (!!) will get +1 to any of the above values.
Edit: I will be raffling off 2 T4 versions of this armor.

>Does the windy gust mitigate his stench, or does it help spread his.... flavor?
Maybe a little of both?
>What causes the chance for the special abilities to fire?
Combat.
>Will this script be added to existing armor?
Perhaps at some point in the future -- but for right now, it's a new release, so I won't be adding this to existing armor. I will look into this for later, though!
For some additional forest goodness, here's some messaging for you:
Armor is activated by RUB -- it must be active in order to fire (or have a chance to fire) in combat. If you go inside, it's going to deactivate. You must be outside, and not in water, for it to work.
>rub my mail
You take a cursory appraisal of the ground at your feet and pick out a few random leaves and twigs. Along with a handful of mud smeared across your mithril chain mail, you paste the bits and pieces in place.
Leaf Swirl
- Diamond-shaped leaves sprout from your mithril chain mail and begin to swirl, obscuring your form!
- The leaves swirling around your form are blown away by an errant breeze.
Wind Gust
- A spiraling funnel of air bursts from your mithril chain mail toward a forest troll, knocking it off-balance!
- The air spiraling around a forest troll dies down.
Mud Sling
- A thick clump of mud catapults from your mithril chain mail and lands on a forest troll!
- The clumps of mud clinging to a forest troll dry up and fall to the ground.
Woodland Empathy
- Your mithril chain mail glows a bright viridian hue, and you suddenly have a clearer understanding of nature!
- The bright viridian hue surrounding your mail fades.

Does each tier proc progressively, or does each tier proc separately (ie does tier 4 have a chance to do any of the lower tiers, or only tier 4, does that make sense?) This armor looks amazing, I can't wait! Wish it would be special for Sylvans too :)

Each tier is separate from the other in all aspects - enhancive bonus, armor flare, etc.
Let me clarify this though, since I can't remember if I did or not...
While the armor flares don't USE charges, you must have enhancive charges in order for the flares to fire. Armor will be sold off-the-shelf with a bit of charges to get you started, but after that you'll have to get them charged at the Adventurer's Guild, or with Premium Points, just like any other enhancive.

How many silvers do Items cost? Will I be able to afford the gear that I'd want?
This would be my first merchant event to ever attend, and I'm concerned that spending $35 real dollars to attend something that it's possible that I can't really afford to buy things once I'm inside. Are these events for people that have 10's of millions of silver, or can folks with limited spending ability afford to get great items. I just want to make sure that I'm not wasting a lot of real world money on something I can't make use of. I'm mostly just worried that some of these events are tailored for those that have been around a while and have limitless funds.

The shop items are likely to be in the reasonable price range. Have you ever been to EG or seen the shop listings from that? We're probably looking at a similar price-point and quality of off the shelf gear. Check out the shop list on the wiki - https://gswiki.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Ebon_Gate_2015_Shop_List
Your higher price things could come from raffle wins in the form of surcharges. Such as doing a 10x enchant on someone's armor of epic awesomeness could run several million or even a hundred million silver, all depending on how those surcharges are set up.
If you go, the off-the-shelf stuff should be great to get. And from the sounds of it there will be some RP and a quest sort of thing that can be fun to get involved in.

The armor in Backwoods is 300k silvers, regardless of AsG. It doesn't cost anything (except time!) to participate in the mini-quest in order to gain access to Backwoods. Other items range in price, but it really depends on the item/script in question.
I think you'll find a wide array of pricing at the festival - obviously (new) scripted items are going to be a little more expensive than non-scripted items.
The jewel piles for the enhancive jewelry are 50k for the random pile, 200k for the attuned utility pile, 300k for the attuned combat/magic pile.

Nice to see new armor types are available and to hear I can ensorcell them (with enhancive potion I assume). My questions are;
1) I hear wizards cannot enchant them, true? Why? Make it difficult as voln/fusion!
2) This is a nature lover's dream. What hoops does a ranger need to jump through to put ranger resistance on them? Because my initial attempt failed.
3) Warrior resistance adjustment work on this armor type?
4) Paladin/rogue an other adjustments work?
5) Compatible with padding or sigil of padding?
6) Can someone use PP to add enhancives?
7) How, if at all, will armor concealers prevent this script from activating? Mud can't catapult through an extra layer unless it's stronger than dirt!

Try now.
>Adjustments
Did you try it?
>Sigil of padding
This isn't related to armor.
>Other padding
You'll need to find a merchant willing to put padding on armor with a combat script, but it's not something that's offered frequently at all.
>Can someone use PP to add enhancives?
I think this is more of a GM Jainna question.
>armor concealers

I don't yet have an answer for you, but I'm still looking into it.

Nicely done with opening up the forest armor. Thanks!
next question; a friend is using Tier 3 4x forest armor. It has flared to improve their DS by 4, decrease an opponent by 4, etc. Am I missing something that makes this combat related script better than seeking ordinary 6x armor which always has a +10 benefit compared to flaring up to and including a difference that those two flares combined (+8 makes)?
Are we missing something?

The enhancive properties, which aren't groundbreaking...but nice, especially if you're a forest gnome.
---
Question of my own...
Wind Gust - lowers creature DS
Does this lower TD as well? Without that, T1 has really no benefit to a pure caster (which I guess is ok if it's not meant to be marketed for a pure).

Forest Armor is now able to be enchanted by players, though it will require a special potion due to its enhancive properties.

The wind, mud, and leaves are just unable to affect the magical defenses of the creatures.

This is an exciting change and makes me wish I had bothered to acquire some of this armor. The original inability to enchant it caused me to lose all interest. Maybe we will see it made available again down the road?
