I am not one to normally complain, but I am writing this to discuss Frontier Days. I am missing the involvement that was presented to us the first two Frontier days. By involvement I mean shops being open and the carnival games. Frontier days was a great fun free event for all to attend. None of that has happened as of yet this year and its already the 7th. Shops were great and affordable for those who couldnt otherwise afford them in other places and the variety of items were great as well. From items like cauldrons, darts, perfumes, clothing, etc.

I dont know what happened to the state of Frontier Days this year, but to me this seems like an after though especially right after Ebon Gate. If I recall Frontier Days was in August the last two years for the very purpose not to distract from other PAY events. PAY events, ill admit are great, but Frontier Days was great for those who couldnt afford to participate in those and seemed to be more community based rather than events like Ebon Gate, Duskruin, etc.

Just my opinion and observation, are there any other thoughts?

My thoughts, besides "Ditto. Ditto. Ditto. And um, Ditto."...

My favorite part of Frontier Days was the Craft Bazaar. I loved all the little things people would make, and just to see people get a chance to shine with their creativity in the spotlight for a bit. At the Bazaar it seemed that everyone really got into the spirit of making affordable stuff and it was really fun to visit those tables.

This year, I sent in an email about it in advance. I saw other people post in the forums. All of us wondered even as early as June, when would it be, because all year long, houses and MHO's begin working toward this awesome Bazaar, collecting ingredients, buying up items to charge, fletching those special arrows, cobbling those amazing shoes, and making special little chocolates and jewelry for us. It's a shame that hard work sort of went to waste this year.

I was also concerned about not getting a response to my email, nor to anyone else's posts in the forums as far as I have seen. I have had players newly returning to the realms this year, who have said they had heard about the previous couple of Craft Bazaars (or the Pioneer Event or The Tables Event Where Houses Sold Things) and were interested in when it would be held.

Is there anyone out there who will accept responsibility for this, and be accountable, and let us know that we are heard/considered?

We know you all work hard, and I am not just a complainer, you know that. Help us understand so we are not left going "WTH? What WERE you THINKIN?"

On lnet there has been a surge of that sort of sentiment this week, both publicly and privately. Thanks whoever first made the post here about the problem.

Thank ya kindly.

I have mixed feelings.

I can't put into words how much I loved the 2016 Frontier Days and its ambient messaging, and 2017/2018 had their perks too. The Landing is my favorite town and I've bought some wonderful items from the shops that have helped define my character, so obviously in many ways I miss the festival.

On the other hand, we've been bombarded with back-to-back events this year... Duskruin February 15 to March 3, then Faire of the North March 7 to 10. Rumor Woods June 1 to 16, then Valley of Gold June 20 to 23. Duskruin August 9 to 23, then Premium Fest the same day August 23 to 30.

So Ebon Gate -> Frontier Days -> Festival of the Fallen was looking like more of the same and, I gotta be honest, part of me was dreading it. Like: hey, do we ever get a break?

Still...

I wish we could have at least had some raffles and the carnival games since (I assume) they're easier to set up than whole shops. I do think there are upsides to a festival that's entirely player-driven events, as I've felt this year overall has left too little breathing room (even more than usual) for CHE/MHO officers to do our thing without bumping into a GM event. So it's nice to have some space for that, but if that was the idea, maybe it just should have been called something besides Frontier Days.

I also feel festival overload lately, but I do feel obligated to chime in on behalf of my CHE. We also had members excited for the Bazaar and who prepared many crafted items with the expectation that it would return. We ended up pawning most of them and putting a small handful into a member-run player shop :(

Hoping we see it return next year, with plenty of advance warning!

I can only speak to the Craft Bazaar as this was a CHE-led event (with GM Elysani and the MHOs) and say that it was not planned to happen this year. I'm glad it was well received in the past! It's unfortunate that Houses made items which were pawned or tossed, but in previous years, the event was announced on the forums and the House officers were emailed and given a time frame within which work. The houses were not directed or expected to work all year and stockpile items. I know I answered many emails from those inquiring about a craft bazaar that if/when the event is held, notification would be received as in years past. I also saw that my answer to one of those emails was relayed on Discord. If I missed someone, I apologize!

The bazaar was also not an event specific to Frontier Days, it just worked out in prior years to be the best time to hold it. In looking at the Frontier Days schedule for 2019, only a handful of CHEs signed up to host a Frontier Days event. While the bazaar may be missed, they were just unmanned sales tables, not the player driven events that the first week of Frontier Days was envisioned to be. Should the bazaar return in the future (at Frontier Days or otherwise), it will not be a contest and will require more CHE member involvement.

This goes back to the original Frontier days of the sorts. This was something a House did with help. Houses need to form their own alliance to see this continues. Moonshine Manor would like to lead the way for next year. If you're interested please come to the Plurs Pub and talk to someone in the pub about what you think. Or look on Discord for a channel called "Officers" and ask for an invite. Or mention it here.

"FRONTIER DAYS: WEEK ONE!
Moonshine Manor is proud to once again host the annual Wehnimer's Landing Frontier Days! Many Cooperative Houses and Meeting Hall Organizations have joined in the festivities to bring you a two week-long celebration of fun, games, drinking and maybe even a few surprises! The Frontier Days will run from Restday, the 21st of Phoenatos through Feastday, the 3rd of Imaerasta! (Sunday, August 21st through Saturday, September 3rd) A souvenir item will be available for sale outside of Helga's Tavern all week long. The first week will be filled with events hosted by CHE's and MHO's and the second week will consist of raffles and services from merchants, local and from afar."

was it me or was there really nothing much at frontier days this year. I mean a few things some of the houses did. But most of the normal tents and wagons, the albatross and nothing on the gm side or did I just miss it. I know it was right after Ebon Gate, but kenstrom usually puts on at least a decent showing.

There was nothing on the gm side at all, but then again it was right after ebon gate. Normally there are shops, carnival games, etc. This year was more about going back to roots of the Original Frontier Days which was eventa hoated by CHEs/MHOs it seems
