Square molds only allowed certain items to be created, and those with much rarer materials were ineligible. Rectangular molds will work with items with rarer materials.

Again - the "duplicate" item will always be "a doll-sized <whatever>", but the original item's description is stored for the doll. You can see this when you LOOK at the copied item. Once placed on a doll, "doll-sized" is dropped.
