So i wanted to bring this up on the board here about the weapon creature bane raffle. I won the raffle. I talked to the person doing the services and say hey, "I'm not familiar with this service, but i read all about it on the wiki, Extraplanar Bane sounds neat." He said don't worry we will get you fixed up. twenty minutes goes by and he states he is waiting on clarification about pricing. Then I'm told whoops, sorry, can't do the bane, there was confusion, sorry about the mixup. Instead, you can have a common flare added or +10 AS.

I am 100% confused over this whole exchange. I asked for my weapon back, and told him to pick someone else, because I don't need another regular flared weapon. I thought the raffle was for a creature bane script. Honestly, there was a total lack of information here on what was going on. In my shoes it seemed like this was a last minute thing, and the person who was tasked to run it was not informed as to what was supposed to be done, with the item an fees ect. Any chance you can explain what happened here or where the communication fell off? Thanks.

I'll readily admit there was confusion on my part, but I did receive clarification while we were at the service. You had the choice of extraplanar bane WITH common flares OR +10 to AS, as part of your BANE SELECTION added to your weapon, which is what I told you toward the end of our conversation.

Fyi, Extraplanar Bane is a different bane type than Creature Bane (which means pick a creature).

Extraplanar bane is more coveted and likely harder to approve and works on various groups of creatures, not a single type.


Extraplanar Bane weapons are effective against extraplanar creatures, giving extra weighting, enchant, or flares depending on the owner's choice when the bane was added.

I'll add to that wiki statement, that the service's approvals and restrictions, like this case, determine what bane effect you receive. So weighting was not an option this time, only AS increase or flare.

You want the GMs who are currently running a festival to take a few hours away from running said festival and from their own lives to hunt down a bunch of people over 25k?

It's okay to be frustrated at the fact that the contraints weren't there, but think about what you're asking. It doesn't demonstrate much respect for their time or for the festival experience of a few hundred other people who won't get merchant services for a few hours so you can get 25k back.

I understand where you are coming from, but a clear point needs to be made here. If requiring GM-time to refund the tickets to those who would not have entered under the updated restrictions is what it takes to make that point, then so be it.

Simply put, what happened was nothing short of a bait and switch, no matter how unintentional it was. People were offered a service, given a set of restrictions, and bought in for that service, only to then be told that they couldn't get the things they wanted done, because more restrictions were being added after the fact.

I understand that mistakes are made, and am not blaming anyone for the mix-up with the original set of restrictions. Where the ball was really dropped was with changing them after people had begun to buy in. What should have been done is to leave the restrictions as they were for that raffle, and only that raffle, and to clearly inform people of the updated restrictions for the other, upcoming raffles for the same service.

It sucked the way it happened and the rules were switched, it's over and done with now. Nobody is really feeling that 25k loss and if you are that damn desperate, I'll happily give you the 25k from my elf. To anyone who is that bumhurt about such things. :P

As a matter of fact, yes I do want a refund of silvers. I entered on 3 accounts and I'd like my 75k back. I sure can't ask for a refund of time wasted & I don't appreciate a bait & switch.

I am far from angry here, and have not said that I personally want a refund or that I want to "punish" anyone. Perhaps you mistook my statement about the GM time there to be me saying these things, but I assure you it was not. That does not change the fact that a clear point needed to be made about how the mix-up with the raffle restrictions was handled.

While many of the GMs are volunteer staff, they are still representatives of the company and are going to be scrutinized as such. There will be mistakes made, and how they are handled is going to be the difference in how that scrutiny plays out. The wrong action was taken tonight, and while it may not have had a major impact this time, if it is not called out and discussed in an appropriate manner, it may have a much more substantial impact the next time it happens.

Its not the 25k silver lost that was an issue for me. It was expecting one thing, following all the rules provided, getting very excited for a service, WINNING said service, then at the time of redemption...well, yeah. Things really need to be a lot more clear. This was far more disappointing for me then it shouldve been.

The permabless raffles coming up have a clear statement of 'no combat scripts', at least on the tentative schedule posted. So I knew I wasnt going to be able to get that on the weapon I would like it on. And that is fine.

Had the ticket for the weaponbanes stated upfront 'No combat scripts' That too wouldve been fine.

Alas it did not, and it ended up making me super sad >.< I feel kinda cheated. Yeah, I'll get over it but...no need to berate others for being a bit upset at things. As Volmir said, this shouldnt happen and if it what it takes for it not to happen again is for someone to have to go redeem some raffle ticket costs, fine. Hell, if I had just gotten a 'oops, crap, we screwed up here have an multiplier RPA" Id be a lot less frustrated.

As it is I got an 'Oh well! Nothing we can do.'

All in all, Ive had great experiences recently with GM's. So definitely this sticks out even more as an outlier. I dont understand why this is even a debated issue.
