As I was rooting around in Lylia's inventory the other day, I found some of the delicacies from the Faendryl Symposium that taste wonderful to my character but noxious to non-Faendryl (I imagine this as being a lot like how I feel about fresh cilantro). It made me wonder if there were a way to make perfumes that smell different on different races -- not necessarily stinky, of course, but just mildly pleasant on some races and really great on the one they're designed for.

Let's say a perfume's designed to go with human body chemistry. On Lylia, it might look something like: "The air about her is redolent of neroli and sweet violet with an undercurrent of soft sandalwood." On Riend, it might be: "The air about her is redolent of neroli and sweet violet with overtones of night-blooming cereus. Beneath the garden of blossoms and citrus is an undercurrent of soft sandalwood."

I think it might be fun to play with, especially if you have some ideas for scents that fit with certain races' tastes and tendencies, like gourmand notes for Halflings, pine and oakmoss scents for Sylvans, and blends of resinous incense notes and night-blooming florals for Faendryl. Of course, you could always make them a little smelly on the "wrong" races, which could also be fun.

If someone likes the idea and wants to run with it, I can think of a lot of us who'd go nuts for it at any of the upcoming festivals.

It could also be fun if the pungency of the fragrance increased with each stackable pour as well as the duration.

The pungency would be really nice, but I'd really like for perfumes to "fade" less quickly.

I put on perfume in the morning, and if I sniff at the end of the day, I can still smell it. GS perfume fades in about an hour, which makes me have a major sad because I have some perfumes that I'd love to wear more.

If you change pungency... Rohese has the overwhelming smell of neroli and sweet violet with an undercurrent of soft sandalwood, which causes you to step back and cough. (or maybe "which causes you to sneeze 5 times in quick succession", "which causes you to think that she poured the entire bottle on herself")

Also, could someone remove the sign in the perfumery in Solhaven? My heart skips a beat thinking that I could actually get something made, and then I realize that the merchant forgot their sign... or maybe we could get that merchant back in? :D

Malikh runs around in little circles, nodding his head so that the wings of his yellow duck hat flap in the wind. Does he think he is going to fly or something?

I agree, I'd use perfume a lot more if it lasted while I was logged in

So the perfumery doesn't work at all in Solhaven without a merchant?
