Well, Sorcery is a mix of two of the following: Lunar, Holy and Elemental.
I'm guessing that if someone puts more mana of one of the types a sorcery spell is INITIALLY made of, it upsets the balance between the matrix of the two.
For example. Energy Manacles is Lunar and Elemental. If someone harnesses Elemental or Lunar mana into it, bad things can happen, because now instead of being 30% lunar, 70% elemental, now its 20% lunar, 80% elemental, or whatever. For some reason, adding an OUTSIDE mana type is different, and may just add power instead of unbalancing the scales of the matrix. This is because if you add an outside amount, its still 1 elemental for every 2 lunar, only the overall amount of it, percentage wise, is lowered.
Along with this, I beleive Tafkapp is a War Mage. Mana Disruption summons an ethereal form from another plane of existance into the target. This is akin to shadowlings, devourers, and the like. BUT, it is also similar to familliars, so can also be part Elemental. I can't see how there are any Holy connections to Mana Disruptuion at this time. When Tafkapp harnessed elemental energies into the spell, he unbalanced the amount of lunar and elemental in it, and caused it to collapse with very bad results.
An interesting question now, which sadly I can't test because I lost the stupid scroll <boo!>, is the following.
If a War Mage or Moon Mage harnessed power for me, and I was sharing streams and they were as well, and I cast Energy Manacles... would the Lunar or Elemental streams they were feeding me affect the casting of EMA?
Hrm.. I wonder if this explains why the wounds happen.. for Sorcery.. at least.

Actually from talking with Rigby the spells are just inherantly unstable because of the mixed mana. Some of these spells will always hurt on backfires, some randomly on normal casts, some both. also I think he said the bad effect for energy manacles wasn't working right or something... but that may have just been my lack of sleep addled brain putting words in his mouth.

coughs just to make a moot point, but you should reverse those numbers to 70% lunar 30% elemental, afterall it is a light based attack using manacles of energy that form from purple light
But either way I believe your point was made
Evocation Sorcery is Elemental and Lunar Energy
Domination Sorcery is Holy and Elemental and/or Holy and Lunar
the last two are my beliefs but seem to be strongly backed, evocation is 100% elemental and Lunar, so I'm guessing domination is holy and either one

The numbers were totally made up, I just wanted to make my example look more tangible :)

Don't forget, each spell is only ONE spell from each book. Sorcery overall is a combination of lunar, elemental, and holy magic, so its very possible that what makes what is not book based.

A quick look at the warrior mage spellbook would lead one to conclude that electromagnetism (which includes light in the visible spectrum, whether refected off a moon or not) is, in fact, an elemental force.

Maybe so but warrior mages are not the masters of light, and a quick look at the warrior mage spellbook does not lead one to conclude to that as the only spell which infact uses light id arc light which is more like a mini explosion of an electrical blast that produces a blinding light, Where as Dazzle moon mage spell causes a shaft of brillant light to blind a target, shadows diverts light from a target, focus moonbeam creates a beam of light, burn conjures a beam to harm a target, shadow web creates interlocking webs of shadows (light manipulation) that binds....soo which has more controll over light?
point being, Light is not a main focus of Elemental or Warrior Mage magic, saying light is elemental sure, doesn't mean they own all light based attacks and are the kings of it, which in fact moon mages are based on light and mental attacks
err but now I'm just arguing on a useless note, however combination of lunar or elemental Energy Manacles is really no point less it has something to do with giving a greater bonus to that guild, either way its unstable

It's very depressing to see my nascent mana theory blown up so completely.
Regarding Energy Manacules / Light mastery: Eh, borders between Elemental and Lunar obviously bleed at this scale. Even in normal magic there's 'six of one / half a dozen of other' situations. Moon Mages can summon light so bright that it burns. Warrior Mages can summon energy that plays with the visible light spectrum.
I think it's safe to say the Shadow and Light Manipulation is more leaning to the moonie side, but this is nowhere near sacred ground, just like the warmies don't have a lock on every single thing that involves putting things on fire.
And on a vaugely related note: Am I the only one that finds it mildly concerned that Holy is a viable mana type for mixing into Sorcery? Interesting implications.

I don't find it of that much concern, but I consider Holy mana to include something that might technically be called Unholy mana, since the Immortals have some decidedly unnice Aspects, too...

well being Holy just means it has to do with a god, they are good gods the same as they are bad gods
so while one god may want to bath the lands in purifying light to keep it rejuvinated forever, another one might want to turn it to a barran wasteland of corruption and death
so....holy can mean evil just not usually tagged that way
And necromancy in DR doesn't mean the raising of dead, its the corruptions or perversion of life forces, such as draining you of your health

Some necromancy in DR is the raising of dead, not as alive, but as undead. Just depends on that particular necromancers taste/spell selection. Look at Lyras
