You're pretty sure that will disrupt less than half your current attunement.
You briskly utter a few sharp words in an arcane tongue, your mind bent to the task of preparing the Fire Rain spell.
You pause and release your spell, realizing that casting this spell in a city will likely get you arrested for endangering the public.
[If you really need to cast Fire Rain here, PREPARE it again within 30 seconds.]

You come out of hiding.
You gesture.
Swirls of ash, dust, and vapor begin to erupt from the ground as the temperature quickly increases.

Somehow I think that's acting as less of a safeguard than it's intended to.

I have to tell you this is my new favorite spell! For hunting I like to prep at 30, then harness another 11, cast, then shape. I only get a 14 rt so its no biggie since I can dance with anything for 14 seconds (ever search yer buddy's kill while not being joined? <grin> Best I've done with it, is killed 9 fens and 2 or 3 trolls out on the hummocks with one cast of fr. Right after the rt from shaping the cloud I start casting spells that puts critters off balance, (tremor, ip, tc, etc). For critters with shields (trolls) I start tingling them right after the rt from the shape. It rocks! Another trick i like is to cast frostbite twice (15 each) , full prep, cast a 41 fire rain, retreat and shape it, instant death for most critters.

I also got a chance to use it during two invasions the other day, one in lange and later one in theren (in-town). I seemed to be able to keep most of the critters down, I just kept recasting it after the cloud disapated. The critters were cyclops, archers, mercs, dars, maras, and maybe berserkers(can't remember, it was getting BUSY). I didn't get fined in town in theren, and it seemed to wack everything. For clearing rooms, invasions, just making coin this spell rocks! If i don't shape it then i start getting hit, but after a shape, I get hit once in a while, but nothing more than abrasions on occasion. This is definately going in my learn list.

Enjoy!
