Does this spell get better with more mana crammed into it, or does it just last longer?
So far, my [admittedly limited] testing indicates that it's very good at killing people who walk into my room (entertaining, but overall a bad thing) and very bad at actually hurting what I usually hunt -- but then, I've only been casting it at 35 or so.
Will more mana actually make this viable, or will it just kill passersby MORE quickly and do nothing to shorten the lifespan of the Adan'f I actually want it to kill?

This was the previous problem with the spell as well. I really hope they fix that. I suspect it's (again) because of the generally high critter stamina.
Note however that Adan'f are a bad critter to test spells on. Maybe try Fendryads or something?

Yeah, I'm gonna go test it on a variety of other critters when I can summon up the interest.
Also, for those of you who delight in stating the obvious -- yes, I know you can shape the cloud to stop it from killing passersby. HOWEVER:
A) 26 seconds is way too long to spend in RT in any hunting area that actually has critters in it, and
B) Because I didn't drool brainlessly on a runestone back when you could lock MD in seven seconds, I don't have enough MD to shape the cloud anyway.
The spell is, overall, very cool -- hell, I may have my character get it simply because it's so stylish.
The RT on the shaping needs to be lowered, though, and you might consider lowering the MD requirement to do the shaping. If it's "almost a requirement for casting the spell", it shouldn't be hard to do at all.

::nods:: certainly it needs to be brought in line with the 40th circle requirement if it's going to be so vital to using the spell in actual combat situations.

My (again just like the first poster...limited testing) indicates that the spell is a stinker for creatures, and a rocking blast for players.
It does some "omg wow" damage to players, however does very little to creatures.
Against Leucros, which wont teach me any TM at all, period, no way no how, it didnt kill one at all, after about 13/14 droplets. (It did have wounds to alot of places tho)
If its doing this in Leucro's, I dont think I'd really want to test it on Slavers or something that I normally hunt... as it still injuries me quite nicely. (Even with 220ish Shield and Evasion... only 80 beyond my TM)

It's not castable in water, at all. I was trying to test in elsralaels to see if it affected things in hiding, but they spell wouldn't work.
I'm guessing they don't want us to turn off the player-killing aspect of it and here's why:
a)If you kill everything in the room and the spell is still going, it attacks you.
b)If you cast it in a swarm and try to turn off the player-killing, you get a high 20s RT(death!)
So, either the spell is useless, or we're being encouraged to cast it without regards to other players passing through. Follow the logic.
