I dug into what's going on with Backlash more. Suffice it to say the currently model we're using is broken. Not "Hey, uh, I need to tweak this." but "It turns out math does not work that way." sort of broken in a way that is extremely favorable to the caster.

I will be fixing it, possibly tonight, possibly not, but at that point backlash is almost certainly going to get a lot less pleasant.

I mention this now as a courtesy before I pull the trigger.

This adjustment is now live.

The general philosophy remains the same as what was intended (but not what was going on): the riskier your sorcery the more likely you are to have Bad Things Happen.

If you stick to good mana mixing and spells friendly to crosscasting you should be fine. If you're an Empath with a burning desire to cast Glythtide's Gift life might not be so long and happy.

As with the prior release, we'll be monitoring and adjusting rates as needed. We'll also at some point review all the spells for how friendly they are to crosscasting so results will be a little more predictable (reigning in the notorious Glythtide's Gift for example...), but that's a more long term project.
