To the GM's involved.
This post is a paraphrase of one in the Paladin folder.
It was stated a while back that when a spell and the matrix overpowers any sort of Magic Resistance in the room, that the pattern is set there until the end of its duration. It was also stated that once a spell pattern is set that Magic Resistance shouldn't equate into the spell casting success. This is not the case with BoT at the moment. While it can be renewed, definite tests have been done by myself and a few others that show that Magic Resistance is in fact being calculated into the renewal cast of the spell, along with the extra ammount of mana necessary to increase the duration of the spell.
This was tested at the cleric guild, both at peak times and at slow times. During slow times, a cast of 20 followed by a series of 30 mana casts were obtained without any failure to stablishing the pattern. At peak, the initial cast had to be increased to 30, and the only renewal of time was achieved by Redarch with a cast of 37. Only once though, a second cast of the spell at the same ammount showed it to be not strong enough for the pattern to be set.
That being said, solo casts can be renewed with 19-20 mana 99% of the time.
If the initial statement was correct, and the spell pattern once set should bypass all Magic Resistance in accordance to that spell, then there is a problem with the renewal calculations.
