Might I help you in making your decision with the following anecdote.

An invasion is happening, and the paladin is ready for it, he arrives in the triage room right beside the frontlines. He casts BoT and rends the room safe for x ammount of time. As soon as he's done, the clerics and empaths necessary for this triage to function arrive and set up shop. Directing bodies and warders. Now the paladin is caught in a problem. With all the clerics, empaths, draggers and warders, he finds himself not able to renew the cast of his banner. So at this time, he must ask all those in the room to move to another one so he might have the ability to renew the cast in the room OR go on his way, and await the banner to drop and seeing empaths and clerics and warders and draggers die.

The added feature to BoT is a wonderful one, and I used it just the other day on myself and a few others that were stuck while our hurts were being healed by herbs so we could climb out of somewhere. But the way the spell is currently set up, the bar that was present, which was the inability to use it when it mattered is only partially raised. While usable in single and small groups usage, large groups are still being help under that bar.

Thank you for reading and replying.

Rigby,

It would be difficult to have younger Paladins keep an area safe if a high circle character is present. While I can see it fair to require a skill check at first, it makes it difficult to make a place a 'safe haven' if the people being protected end up causing the place's very downfall.

<<What's happening is that you're still casting an area effect spell, so still have to overcome magic resistance; you're not casting actually AT the existing banner. This is normal and functioning correctly, but I haven't decided yet if I'm going to tweak it a bit and have you just cast at the banner (therefore keeping that usage from triggering the magic resistance of the room).

The point of the players to want to add time to an existing banner, was to bypass room MR. We wanted higher level paladins to cast BOT, then allow lower circlers to do an upkeep with it. To keep a room under continual safety, during times of war and even allowing us to create a complete safe room for a rescue.

Clynlyn,

Yep, that's what we asked for when we asked for the ability to "boost" or "extend" an existing Banner.

Apparently, the "powers that be" aren't sure that's an acceptable use of BoT, based on what they've done with and allowed during the change to BoT.

So that leads to the question. Dammisak? Is this an appropriate use for Banner? For an elder, more skilled Paladin to Banner an empty room, bring in the Clerics and Empaths, bring in the dead bodies, and allow them to work undisturbed? And let the younger Paladins who can't survive invasion combat that well to contribute to the "war" by maintaining an existing BoT for as long as the bodies keep coming in, without having to try and overcome the MR of all those people, alive and dead, in the room?

If not, I'm not sure why but am willing to listen to your thoughts.

If so, it certainly does NOT achieve that as yet.

I thought dead people didn't have MR. Not trying to conflict, just wondering for my own personal information.

They don't. But Clerics, empaths and draggers do.

Teeklin,

At the time of my post, I was exactly certain so decided to cover both bases at once, just in case.

barbarians standing in the room do. And even barbarians will retreat to a safe room and get healed before venturing off again. But making the bot refresh, be so high, it limits the younger paladins from actually fullfilling the role that players want for the paladins. And I do stress that this is what players want.
