I'm not the only one with this problem, as Pureblade has already commented. My horse recently started facing creatures and advancing, but when I'm mounted and at melee, the horse will face the opponent, but still be at missile, while I'm at melee... meanign that the horse isn't close enough to attack.

This isn't good...

A silver grey horse turns to face a small peccary.
>parry
You move into a position to parry.
Roundtime: 4 sec.
>asses
* Driving in like an unbeatable force, a small peccary uses its tusks like dueling blades, twisting violently at you. You block with a golden tower shield engraved with the words, "Truth, Loyalty, Honor!".
[You're bruised, nimbly balanced with opponent in better position.]

You assess your combat situation...

A silver grey horse (1: solidly balanced) is facing a small peccary (1) at missile range.
A small peccary (1: nimbly balanced) is facing you at melee range.
You (nimbly balanced) are facing a small peccary at melee range.

It couldn't be lack of attention, because before hunting, I groomed it like 5 times in the hour beforehand :P

It was just a bug, stabling it and then taking it back out once the horseboys were done made everything fine.

Oh, and another combat bug.

if you're LEADing your horse, it won't attack, you have to stop leading for it to attack.

That and if your horse faces another critter just retreat retreat.....then advance pec and you will both be facing the same pec again. It will face the critter that just ran in alot.

Horse is working fine today, its not being shown in assess or anything, hits whatever I'm facing and if I'm not facing anything, it hits what I'm blocking.

I reported this as a possible bug about 2 months ago when I first got my horse to show up in Assess. Been this way since day one. I hope it is a bug.

If you dismount the horse will start to advance. The only trick here is that you have to remount before the horse gets to melee. Once the horse is at melee you can't mount (even with the Paladin only horse skill of Mount). In fact you can't use any of the Horse verbs.

<<if you're LEADing your horse, it won't attack, you have to stop leading for it to attack. >>

This has also been this way since day one. I get the feeling that it is not a bug. You are either leading your horse, or you are fighting with it.

Although it would be easier if the horse would fight if you were Leading it.

This leads to another situation to watch out for. Once your horse starts facing critters, if it is in combat, you can't Lead it. So if you need to retreat and your horse is fighting, there is no way to bring your horse with you unless you kill the critter.

All in all it is better to stay on the horse. But until the Advance while on Horseback bug is taken care of, dismounting is necessary.
