>>As for upkeep, you can feed them free foraged grass. Stabling is relatively cheap (a few silver?). When I have my horse out and I'm playing a fair amount I'll sometimes leave it in a 'wild' area and log out. If you log out, the horse leaves to (beware leaving tack you prize on a horse). When you log back in the next time, as long as within the next day or two, the horse should reappear at that spot it left approx 10 minutes later.
Left my horse out in the wild yesterday and logged back in approximately 9 hours later. No, the horse did not appear, it was stabled and it cost a gold to get it back plus the price of a new bridle (about 1.5 gold). Ok, I thought maybe 9 hours was too long of a period. Today, logged out for an hour, again no horse appears. This is not looking so cheap to me anymore.
Is this what's supposed to happen now? I remember horses returning to their old spot. It can't be that anyone has adjusted the horse system, can it?

The first time I waited for about an hour, the second time I was on more than five hours and no horse.
Also, if my horse is to come back on her own say in 30 minutes, but instead I gallop straight to the stables the moment I log on, will they be able to get it for me? Is there a chance the stable folk would be telling me my horse is not under their care?

I haven't had my horse out in a few months, but I do recall that it used to reappear after a time at the spot you left it when you logged out of the game. I left mine yesterday outside the Shanty in Leth, and have been waiting now for over 3 hours and still no horse.
I've used my horse extensively in the past, and it has always returned to the spot where I left it, sometimes within a short period, sometimes longer, but never this long.
I know this was intially posted back in September, but I didn't see any other responses from folks or GMs concerning the change.
Is anyone else having an issue with their horse not returning to the spot they left it?
