A post was hidden for lacking any purpose.

Spellbooks are MOSTLY fluff, but also allow you to STUDY them to learn scholarship, among numerous other neat features.

The merchant that sells them has been in the game once and will be back at some point in the future, just not as often or as quickly as most people would like. ;)

Some other folks might also have some contructive input and useful information about spellbook features that they'll share as well.

Spellbooks contain the list of the spells for those guilds that use magic <other than bards, who have Songbooks instead>.

They also had ways of being decorated, and as Solomon said, could be studied for scholarship.

they were very expensive, costing at least 48 plat for the least expensive "tailor-made" spellbook <one that has your name on it>, the less expensive ones were purely fluff.

Many people spent over 100-200 plat on a single spellbook for various features. For those of us with family in more than one guild, it put a hefty dent in our collective "wallets". :-) For instance, my empath got the list of healing herbs put in her spellbook, my cleric got the book of the immortals put in his spellbook.

Like solomon said, the guru who did spellbooks <that would be Skrathaen, the cleric guru> is involved in other projects at the moment <most notably the return of resurrection, and the new cleric guild reqs.> But when those things are done, we may see a return of the merchant.

Information on the actual spellbook shop, when it was last here, can be found at http://vortressa.l2p.net/workshop.shtml

This site also includes teh costs for the various customizations available for the custom spellbooks, which are the only ones which teach Scholarship when you study them.

Unfortunately, the guild-specific spellbook pages aren't on the server.

Don't suppose anyone has copies of those? I'm trying to see how much my "ideal" spellbook would be, so I'll have an idea of what I'll be spending next time the merchant comes around (assuming he has most of the same items).
