Howdy all,

I can't seem to find real HC gloves anywhere so I decided to make some. Only problem is that I don't have a mix and don't want to spend the time figuring one out.

Could someone please direct me to a site or post the mix? If you happen to have true HC gloves for sale, even better.

Thanks,

Amdusaes

also...

Why are there tassets which protect only the abdomen when you can't buy/forge/tan armor that protects only the chest and back?

Ugh. Take the time to figure it out. You'll be better for it, and perhaps even gain an appreciation for why you're having a difficult time finding some gloves. If something isn't readily available and you have the means to make them yourself, go make them yourself. HC gloves are easy to make. Making LC gloves is a bit more of a challenge.

I have no idea how this mix would turn out, but usually for heavy armor combining lead and iron usually comes out pretty good, so try...

2 lead slugs, 3 dust
MIX
MIX
4 iron slugs
MIX
MIX
2 lead slugs
MIX
(you should now have iron alloy)
2 coal dust
MIX
(you should now have steel)

Bah. Sorry for the double post. Do NOT attempt that mix. I just realized it will come out as lead alloy and not iron alloy which becomes steel when the final dust is added.

Try this:

3 iron slug
1 lead slug
mix
mix
2 lead slug
mix
4 lead slug
mix
mix
1 dust
mix

... the logic of the forging system breaks my brain, but that may just be the inorganic chemist side of me.

I mean... 50% lead + 50% iron + carbon = lead alloy?
30% iron + 70% lead + carbon = steel?!

It's all in the sequence of mixing. If at any time the weight of the lead is more than the weight of the iron that you can put in the crucible, you will have lead alloy. By starting off with 3 iron slugs and 1 lead slug, you have 15 stones of iron, 8 stones of lead for a total of 23. You can then add 2 lead slugs. If you added 3 lead slugs, you would have 24 stones of lead added to 23 stones of iron alloy and would instantly get lead alloy because of the weight of the lead is greater than that of the iron alloy. If you add those 2 lead slugs, you now have 39 stones worth of iron alloy and can add 4 more lead slugs and still keep the iron alloy, but if you added 1 lead BAR, you would once again get a lead alloy because the weight of the lead is more than the weight of the alloy in the crucible.

The reason the OP has a tough time finding HC gloves is because forging is such a pain the backside... as you can see. LOL.
