I don't understand this but, isn't the purpose of dual wielding to attack with both weapons at the same time, and/or in one fluid motion?

Currently the attacks share the same RT...

I want to draw my sword, then sweep in one fluid motion one after the other.

As it stands now, its just glorified combat with no change. Now people can play their characters with their left hands instead... So when can we use shields for our right hand? (because thats all this is good for as it stands)

That is the ultimate purpose, yes: attacking (or throwing hopefully) with two weapons in one fluid motion.

Dual wielding entails a whole slew of changes however, not just the addition of a dual-attack. Considering the size and scope of the change, they have been tiering the release.

Stage 1 (released): Release of Offhand skill for training, ability to use thrown weapons in off hand.
Stage 2 (released): Release of ability to use melee weapons in off hand.
Stage 3 (presumably): Release of ability to attack with two weapons at once.

So, MURRAYW6... You only read the headline that said dual wielding, didn't you? From what I can tell, you completely skipped every single time when Ssra explicitly stated that this release is not finished and that this is barely even the beginning. Hold your damned horses and save the hysterics for therapy.

Actually BRFUQUOIS, I been gone for about 5 months now, before Dual wield was released.

I did read it, but who is to say his meaning of working on it is nothing more to work on bugs then to actually continuesly improve on the skill itself. Don't waste my time by getting coy with me.

Save it for the bashing/flame threads...

THank you DimishedAngel for the response. I didn't see/read that part. I did read the last 2-3 posts on the tweaks they were doing but not how the stages were being done. Perhaps I missed that in my stay away from the game. Good to know.

No problem, I assumed you had just returned from a long hiatus and didn't quite know what this dual wield nonsense was about. That should get you up to date, the actual 'dual wield' in a sense of attacking one target with two weapons at once is still forthcoming.

But not just attacking with both swords, will they also seperate the RT's of each hand, so that I may "Chain" attacks in a fluid motion. (script like this)

Feint left
draw
pause 1
sweep left
slice
pause 2
chop left
parry

In that sense, that I am continuesly always attacking my target?

Our drama aside, I really look forward to doing the same thing.

No, I don't believe that will ever be possible.

Roundtime will remain roundtime and should be universal. I have not heard of any plans for "left-hand roundtime" and "right-hand roundtime." Honestly I don't think it is a good idea anyways, it would completely change the nature of DR and pretty much every single system in the game would have to be re-evaluated.

Example: Attack with my left, charge cambrinth with my right.
Example: Attack with my right, simultaneously load bow with my left.

It would just involve so many things drastically changing. I think the idea of "dual attack" or being able to parry with two weapons at once adds many new, exciting dimensions to combat without having to go that far.

I don't know if its still going to happen, but it sure has been talked about before. There was even talk of body roundtime in addition to each hand.

Well yes, I have heard the idea before, along with body roundtime.

To clarify what I meant, if I recall all such discussions, both player and GMs (if there was any GM involvement), were a couple years ago when dual wield was only a vague idea or possibility.

The separate roundtimes have not, to my knowledge, been discussed since dual wield became first a design reality and then a mechanical reality, however.

Perhaps in the future, true "combos" will become a viable option. Im not sure what type of wording they would use.. but a 2/3/4/7/9 hit combo perhaps could be possible with respective RTs for each.

It may be a Barbarians only CAN get up to 9 combos with a slight RT between certain moves, bringin a total rt for 9 attacks to 12 seconds or something <just guessing> but if such a thing were to be possible, i would imaging it would base heavily on Off-hand, weapon skills, stats like strength, stamina and agility and perhaps Guild choice may decree how many attacks in a row one gets.

I also imagine there will be some "speciality moves" like the Double Low Thrust, the Scissor Cut, the Corkscrew among others with more interesting and colourful names.

Be patient, and hope. Thats pretty much what everyone does who isnt buddies with a GM.
