What kind of slice/impact could you get on a forged broadsword or similar while maintaining f/f or better for balance/suitability and staying under 70ish stones?

Not an answer to Vision's question, but a question of my own. What are the benefits of a broadsword over a bastard sword? I know the Outcast bastard sword was based off a forged weapon, and it has fair/fair with great slice, but low impact. Broadsword have a better capability for impact, I assume?

My personal preference of the broadsword/claymore combo stems from the fact that I feel that everyone and their pony has a bastie. Also, the broad/clay combo is capable of a bit better stats, IIRC, at roughly the same weight.

The elf uses a flamberge always has and when he started using heavy edged he picked up a schiavona. The thief uses a bastard sword due to saving weight since he's also carrying a LE, ME, 2 spears, 8 daggers, a heavy cross and a shield.

Yeah, but everyone and their pony uses a broadsword, Mr. Trendsetter ;) Sadly, its more a state of weapon choices overall than RP choices.
To answer the first question, the heavier the forge mix is for a broadsword the less balanced it will be and If you want to keep the broadsword at fairly/fairly it will likely need to stay around 40 stones. Also, I believe great slice is the cap on broadswords.
And to Fuke, the difference between a broad and a bastard sword is not much. If you want more impact you will likely want a battle axe.
If the Truth hurts... maybe you should be more gentle with it.

It's really a matter of personal preference, in my experience. A broadsword can be forged lighter than a bastard sword, but as a rule bastard swords have more of a bite- especially in two-handed mode.

Slice for broadswords caps at great and impact caps at fair.
Great slice, fair impact and balance on a broadsword just aren't going to happen together though.
At 34 stones you can get low/heavy/fair reasonably/fairly, and at 40 stones you can get low/great/low fairly/fairly. Those two are my favorite broadswords.
There is a storebought broadsword that is low/mod/mod but it seems to be a longsword or possibly an axe template.
I wasted alot of time trying to make a low/heavy/mod broadsword. This can be easily accomplished with a longsword, but balance will be poor at best.
Longswords templates have lower balance, but higher impact and power potential. To get a longsword to fairly balanced, it'd have to be fairly light, which would further limit what kind of slice an impact you can get.
As far as bastard swords, you can get low(*or poor)/great/low reasonably/fairly in HE at 36 stones (low/severe/fair reasonably/reasonably in 2HE).
* Can't remember which exactly and don't have access to confirm right now.

Is Magdar still around? I wouldnt mind payin him 50 plat for a sword like the one mentioned above. As long as I can get R/F R/R and still keep Well construction.

I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but that sounds incredible and something I'd be willing to shell out a lot of plats for... if it's possible, of course. Monsieur Magdar?

>I'd suggest going with heavy slice and instead grind all the way for balance if you use parry as a defense especially if you use 2HE as well since in 2HE the balance will be 1 grind below well.
If you were referring to me, balance is not an issue at all because I exclusively train with Desert's Maelstrom. Thanks for the advice though. If you weren't referring to me, whoops : )
