I'm playing a 45th circle warrior mage who's currently backtraining a few things in vines and I thought that I might as well backtrain some armors aswell.

Primary armor is currently LC but I was thinking that I might as well spice it up a little and see if a combination of LC/HC/LP would be worth it. I only need to raise my other armors (HC/LP) around a hundered ranks or so to 150 to catch up, and this can be done fairly quickly in vines. This is primarily for TDPs and I'd like to eventually have a 3 armor combination as my primary defence set up. I'm currently thinkingof a LC suit, LP/HC gauntlet and helm set up (not sure what to put where)

But before I do, I just want to ask; Is this viable? Are the penalties from wearing multiple armor types worth it? And if it is worth it, what would be the best combination?

As long as you're not worried about the hit to stealth, then yes it's worth it.

LC + HC has no mixing penalty
Adding in plate does have a mixing penalty.

Worth it if you like the tdps. Such a combination is fine, won't be the end of the world.

Good to hear.

How much of the hinderance of LC, HC and LP can a warrior mage work off, and around when does it start to reduce to the lightly/insignificantly hindered level?

If you add plate to the mix, and also train shield, you'll be very lucky to get lightly hindered, and even with buffs, I think insignificantly is going to be out of the question. In general you need about 100 ranks in each armor type plus buffs to see a good reduction in hindrance.

Not sure if this helps any, but my cleric (same skill set, but no YS) runs Fairly hindered in LC shirt, HP helm/gauntlets, LP greaves and a garg shield. Armors in the upper 80s. All that gear is forged/tanned for minimum hindrance.

I use LP/HP. Like someone already said kiss stealth bye bye. I used to train LC as well. I got to admit it HURT. I was getting hit a LOT more than with just the two plates than I was with LC/LP/HP. Hinderance factor is significant. My guy is also a WM. As a WM you can work off a max of around 60% of the total hinderance for plate via ranks after around 200 ranks I belive. Using YS will get rid of that totaly provided you use Plate. Chain you can work off around 80% via ranks YS does not do a ton for you for Chain.

Bottom line it all depends on what kind of fighting style you use. I use a Tower Shield and like to get up and close all of the time. Personally I went with Plate for the protection it is awsome especially on HP.

Speaking of that a word of caution regarding LP. If you are going to use LP for accessories such as Greave/gauntlets it is great. Anything else it SUX. Forged LC has better stats for body armor protection than forged LP. Same goes for Head gear and LP it SUX forged or otherwise.

Hanry trains ALLL armor types with a good degree of sucess. I find it a tad painful and too much to have to keep switching pieces back and forth instead I just go nuts and train all weapons.

Definately worth picking up a second type of armor to be sure however as you learn armor pasivelly and there is no penalty for mixing LC/HC or LP/HP.

Sad to say you need MORE than 100 ranks. As previously stated my guy is a WM who uses LP/HP/Tower shield. With all that on him he is insagnificantly hindered with buffs to the teeth including a maxed YS. Without he is lightly hindered and that was NOT until all of it was 200+ ranks.

150 ranks you see a decent bonus but until it is all past 200 you will not be light on your feet.
