I'm considering trying to track down a forged 34 stone claymore. It looks like they're fairly constructed. Would I be at risk of breaking one easily at lower circles, like 30-50? I assume that'd be about where I'd want to make the swap to the 72 stone one. How do people like the 34 stone? And about how much are they going for now.

Depending on the slice, edge grinds, mix, and forging factor of the maker they're between fairly sturdy and moderately strong. Chances are you won't break it.

I'd recommend just using a bastard sword, though. I'm a balance nut.

Does balance just affect ability to parry? Or does it actually m ake you unbalanced to swing.

Yes. Higher balanced weapon = more effective parrying.

The balance of a weapon has nothing to do with your balance while swinging.

Weapon balance directly impacts your ability to parry and your accuracy when attacking. With a low end dismally balanced you'll be very inaccurate, and if you miss with any attacks you can (and almost always will) lose balance when swinging.

But other than that, if you're connecting then weapon balance doesn't affect the balance you gain while swinging any.

Awesome. Thanks for the reply y'all. Got me a 36 stone Drevid-forged claymore I'm playing with now. It hits like a runaway caravan. I'll just shield block instead of parry when I use 2he. that's no big deal.
