So I was wondering if scrolls are not set up for xala'shar? I figured it would be like most other scroll generating mobs, but i've killed thousands of them and have not found one scroll there.
On a side note, I could go to shalswar per say and farm them and find one usually in a few hours at most.
Do the mobs drop runes, herbs, etc? AFAIK they pull from the same hopper as maps/scrolls.

Just reposting on this topic. Xala'shar do drop runes and other items, and I know I've heard the same point that creatures that drop them will also drop scrolls and maps. For some reason however in the past month I've hunted them regularly I haven't found 1 scroll and found that very odd. I've made trips before to shalswar to hunt for scrolls and usually I can find a few in a day if I farm them, maybe the % of drops of them has been changed.
I feel like the % drop for scrolls has decreased for me as well. Could be each critter is set a % junk drop or that the % was fine tuned a couple months ago (when I also started seeing less scroll drops)

I've had times when I'd find a scroll a day and others where it is months between.
I've also had times where I find two maps in a month yet no maps have come to me in months, and I cry. Forever.

<<I've been playing this god dang text game for over ten years and I've literally never found a scroll or map or anything cool while hunting and I hate all of you :(
I've been playing on/off for 17 years (probably about 10-11 years cumulative time) and have found maybe about 10? The large scroll selection I have now was obtained largely via scroll giveaways and/or 'buy this bag full of scrolls for x plat.' Oh, and people running box popping scripts while afk and just dumping the contents on the ground and not looting the scrolls, lol!
I still have no idea how people manage to farm up so many via drops. Even when I hunt so-called scroll dropping creatures I don't see them with any frequency. I suspect the people that find lots are the ones that script combat for hours upon hours at a time. I can't see any other way it would work.

Unless the system is notably different than how I understand it, if a critter drops runes, herbs and random clothing/jewelry they'll also drop scrolls and maps.
The big thing is whatever rate the particular mob is set to drop things from that hopper from. AFAIK, similar to how mobs can be set to have a high (or low) chance to drop boxes, they can be set to a high or low chance to pull from the "random" hopper.
